PowerPoint 2010 keeps crashing

PowerPoint 2010 keeps crashing when trying to edit text in a presentation. All other Office products seem unaffected. (I haven't tried them all, but I've been working in Access a lot lately and it has been working fine.) This had just started happening and I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the latest Boot Camp update. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on a 13" MacBook Pro (mid-2009). Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

MC02138 you are the man! I was having many struggles with work presentations, but this worked like a charm and saved me the hassle of uninstalling BC and losing functionality. Thanks a lot!

This works - almost the same as your directions. I had to "Add" another language of "US" then the keyboard payout came alive.

Thanks nallex, that worked for me ... quick, easy, painless. I had previously uninstalled bootcamp 3.2 and put 3.1 back on my MacBook Pro. But your keyboard change recommendation kept Office 2010 PowerPoint from crashing. Back in business ...

This had happened to me to Powerpoint & Outlook in my current user. I started in safe mode... everything worked. I made a new user... everything worked... The problem was in LANGUAGE in Preferences... It seems that MS Office 2011 must have ENGLISH as first language in order. After that everything works perfectly!

I made a second user and looked for differences. The only one was the language of the keyboard!

Stupid Microsoft... They think that there are only english users using mac...

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou! The keyboard changed in Windows to "U.S." fixed everything for me 🙂

I can't believe how simple this solution is - and how long it took to find....

Go into the Control Panel > Region and Language Settings > Keyboards and Languages. Select "Change Keyboards" and add "English (United States) - US" to the input languages and now everything works

I recently ran into this problem and doc mck solution for changing the keyboard lay out really helped. I'm running Windows 7 x64 on a MacBook Pro with Powerpoint 2007. I had to go into the Control Panel > Region and Language Settings > Keyboards and Languages. Selected "Change Keyboards" and added "English (United States) - US" to the input languages and now everything works. I guess Microsoft no longer enjoyed the "English (United States) - United States (Apple)" input any longer.

Today is the first time I had this problem, but Powerpoint 2007 had worked earlier in January without issue.

Adding the additional keyboard fixed Powerpoint 2007 for me on a MacBook Air (late 2011) running Windows 7 64-bit and Bootcamp 4.0. Thanks for the solution, brilliant!

This worked beautifully for Powerpoint 2007. Thanks so much....I thought I was going to lose my mind trying to fix. I actually removed all of Office and then reloaded it, thinking that would help. I'm running Windows 2007 64bit with Bootcamp on Macbook Air.

For PowerPoint 2007 on Windows 7....

Open Control Panel
Press "Change keyboards or other input methods" from "Clock, Language, and Region"
Press "Change keyboards..."
Press "Add..."
Roll down "English (United States)" (if it's not already expanded)
*Select "US"*
Press "OK"
Press "OK"
Press "OK"
Close the Control Panel

That worked for me!!
