AirPlay to Apple TV only sound and no picture to airplay option

Airplay is not working right for me or there is a setting I'm missing.

When I start a movie on my iPad or iPhone and I click the airplay icon it lets me choose between the device itself and the apple tv, however it only is for sound, no video.... Why? This is the same on the iPad and iPhone.

When I click on a picture I don't even get a airplay option at all. This is the same on both devices.

I don't see any setting for this either.

Help

 MacBook Pro;  MacPro; TV;  iPhone 4;  iPod, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

Then I have to go to the AppleTV at the top of the menu and scroll up to the iTunes icons and I get (on the left) a generic icon which says untitled/unknown and when I click on that I get the sound without video. Something is wrong somewhere, must be me because this is way too awful for Apple to have released. Double checked that AirPlay is on on AppleTV. All are joined to my home network....

I had this issue with my apple tv 2nd generation on airplay from youtube. But the airplay from Netflix was working fine.

if you face same issue, follow the below to get airplay from youtube

play a movie on netflix app from any device and airplay to apple tv

once the movie started playing on apple tv , play a video on youtube and choose airplay.

That was it! The pictures work now too, I guess the ipad and iPhone notice when they are on the LAN with a tv (updated) and the icon is there. If there is not an tv on the lan the icon for airplay is not on the pictures at all. Pretty kewl!!!
