NBA League Pass and ATV

If you have apple tv and have NBA league pass broadband, which gives you the luxury of viewing NBA games on your computer, will you be able to use ATV to stream the games on your television?

Also, I know of the airplay feature and the NBA mobile app, which will allow you to watch games on your iPhone...what will the quality of such games being "Airplayed" to your tv via ATV be?

Thanks

I just recently bought a Apple TV and Im having issues with the Gametime APP that comes with the apple TV. The quality of the games is very poor. Occasionly I will be able to view the game and the quality will be Full HD but then the rest of the games for that day are very poor. When I log into my International League Pass on my PC all the games run perfect on the highest resolution so I do not think its my connection. I have also tried streaming the games from my Iphone to Apple TV using airplay and the quality is much better then trying to play the games through Apple Tv. I have contacted NBATV but havent recieved a response yet. Anyone having these issues?

It seems that nba gametime app is using this so called " adaptive" technology wherein video quality of the games will vary " live or archive" depending on the speed of your internet connection. I have a few archive games that are really blurry and unwatchable but live games are really full hd. My internet down speed is 60 mpbs and because of these cases im experiencing it did forced me to upgrade to 150 mpbs down speed. I'll let you know later on if there is any difference. Yea you r right, airplay does work better than the actual nba game time app from the app tv, really wierd and annoying that we cant take advantage of it' BTW live games are awesome quality!!!

Most of the time when the games are played live I'm at work but on the weekend I did notice that the live games were in excellent quality, and the problem is with some of the archived games. I don't think my Internet connection should be a problem because I can watch the archived games on my PC on the highest resolution without any issues. I did notice that on Sunday ALL the archived games were in HD so maybe they are fixing the problem. I'll check Monday's archives when I get home from work. I have contacted NBATV about this but I haven't heard back from them yet.

Hey Grumpy and other Australian NBA heads,

I've been running NBA.TV on the ATV3 with the latest firmware update. Same issues regarding archived picture quality. Not all games, just some (usually the games I want to watch eg NYK Vs Nets today) being unwatchable with such poor quality. Same time on the macbook, iphone or ipad (yes, thats an embarrising number of apple products) they're spot on HD quality. Pretty darn annoying. Almost as annoying as trying to work out with ATV must be running wireless rather than the ethernet for the NBA to work.

Still some work needed to be done by apple and neulion/NBA to get this up to scratch.

I look forward to seeing the quality of the Lakers v Pacers game tomorrow. I won't be able to watch it live, so it will be an archived game when I watch it. I've only seen two games so far, 1 live and 1 archived. Maybe it's been beginners luck, but both games had very good picture quality, although, yes, the live game was slightly better.

I am by nature a patient person, it's my understanding that this is new to the ATV (happy to be corrected) and there is the issue of the ethernet connection not working. Maybe (hopefully) when Apple releases a fix for that, there'll be an improvement.

Hey, I'm just glad that I get to watch every game I want to see now. 🙂

I'm in Australia, ATV3 with Wifi. In the last week I've found the archived games to be great. A few weeks ago I found them to be poor quality.

I haven't been able to watch a live game for a while due to the time difference. Hopefully I can this weekend to see how it goes.

I'll go test the Knicks v Nets game now.

Well, the Lakers v Pacers game ranged from marginal to acceptable at best, far from HD quality. There also appeared to be audio sync issues throughout most of the game. As I'm new to this service, I don't know where the fault lies. I have a good quality (cable) internet service, the only other archived game I've watched was almost flawless.

Is it Neulion, Apple or the NBA's fault?, I don't know. I know I will be emailing the NBA directly to advise them that THEIR PRODUCT is being detrimentally handled by the time it gets to me. A product that I'm paying good money for.

We are all on the same boat! At least we all know that it is not a problem related to our internet connection, knicks vs nets, lakers vs memphis the other day, were very bad unwatchable qualities' hope they fix it right, but i noticed as well when i looked back at the poor quality games weeks before and tried it again, the quality did improved to hd' im really confused of whats going on.. Iphone always give an hd quality so i view them via airplay if picture's bad from the apple tv

Completely agree, start complaining to the NBA first because management works top-down with fixing problems. Let them know we are NOT happy with the product that we're paying for.

I emailed them directly last night, and look forward to their reply.

I watched the Lakers v Pacers game Live and it was Full HD so the problem is with the archived games. I still haven't heard back from Nba TV. Lets ALL complain about this, POWER IN NUMBERS!
