NBA League Pass and ATV

If you have apple tv and have NBA league pass broadband, which gives you the luxury of viewing NBA games on your computer, will you be able to use ATV to stream the games on your television?

Also, I know of the airplay feature and the NBA mobile app, which will allow you to watch games on your iPhone...what will the quality of such games being "Airplayed" to your tv via ATV be?

Thanks

After a lot of messing about I have found that this is a common problem with the Apple TV 3 when connected via the ethernet port (using the latest firmware from Apple, 5.1).

I did lots of troubleshooting like restarting, restoring, restoring when plugged into a PC with iTunes, connecting directly to my router instead of a switch that was connected to my router. At that point the Apple TV starting crashing and restarting my router (both through ethernet and wifi). I made a genius bar appointment and they swapped it over for a new one. I got home and was able to run it without it crashing the router but I still couldn't run Game Time (or Photo Stream), but other functionality worked.

After manually re-entering my routers config and not getting any results I went back to google and found this thread on the apple forums:

I tried wifi one more time and it worked. I will use the Apple TV on wifi until Apple sort out this bug.

As a side note I see there are now questions about picture quality. Unlike the webapp you cannot select quality manually, it sorts it out based on your bandwidth. I'm using a 125mbit cable connection and it selected what I would think would be 720 quality after a couple of seconds (I think this looks better than the webapp when it is set on 3000kbps). The audio is just stereo, but sounded OK once it clicked over to the best picture quality (and best audio stream).

Browsing the app is clunky like the rest of the apple TV apps, but now I'm beyond my connection problems the delay between screens is minimal.

Finally, the comment about seeking through the games. I noticed by complete accident the other day that if you use the Remote app from an iOS device you can use the now playing button once you start watching/listening and you get an on-screen scrub bar to quickly seek through what ever you are doing. I haven't tried this in the NBA app, but all the interfaces are similar thoughout the Apple TV so hopefully it works.

I'll give it a go tonight and update this post.

Interesting. I'm using mine in Australia with an ATV3 with FW 5.1 (iOS 6), on wifi with no issues at all. I will plug it into ethernet tonight and test to see if that works or not or if I get the login issues that some people have been reporting. I was planning to put it on ethernet anyway, as I have an jailbroken ATV2 that I have XBMC on and need ethernet to make that work with my server.

As for picture quality, the issue may be that using the web app, it gets the stream from a different source than the ATV app. I'll look into this.

After several days with login issues I tried it again yesterday (changed absolutely nothing). And - oh miracle - it now works perfectly fine. I'm using an ATV3 with FW 5.1 connected via ethernet in Austria.

The picture quality seems to start off very badly but after 5-10 seconds it switches to a better stream (I guess 720p) witch really looks just amazing. I'm very happy that the problem went away without me doing anything ...

I'm in the United Kingdom and still no joy. Have tried both wifi and ethernet but same error message saying account could not be authenticated. I'm wondering if it's a problem between the app communicating with the iTunes store, as if I click on 'Bought leage pass through iTunes? Restore here' link, I get an error message saying could not connect to the iTunes store.

Hopefully the same as knitd, it will just sort itself out in the next few days.

Do we benefit putting apple tv on DMZ like my ps3 that works like a charm under it?

I could also not log-in on my Apple TV using my league pass (located in the Netherlands). The problem was that I had to many devices registered to my NBA Game Time account. You can only register 5 devices (Apple TV, iDevices, Xbox), you can delete your devices in the settings on the watch.nba.com website. After I deleted a device and waited 15min I could log-in on my Apple TV and watch NBA basketball!
