WiFi/Internet Incredibly slow after iOS 4.2 Upgrade

I've personally not noticed any speed/performance decrease in my iPad or iPhone4 after the upgrade to 4.2.1. Speedtest measures it the same.

WiFi speeds on my iPad are unbearably slow on 4.2.1. While speedtest apps seem to return satisfactory results (~3 MBPS down), Safari seems to work at a crawl. Also (and probably most telling) I cannot get Hulu Plus to stream a video smoothly to save my life on 4.2.1. I tried resetting all network settings on the iPad and restoring to a clean 4.2.1 (without applying any backup). No dice.

The moment I downgraded to 3.2.2, everything worked great again.

I have to keep rebooting iPad after update to stay on the Internet. Apparently this was a problem in beta testing that delayed the release. Guess they didn't fix the problem.

My wifi cuts out after about 10 mins too and I have to completely reboot it to get it back. I thought the reason they delayed the release was to fix wifi problems but apparently not. Mine was working fine before the update.

I have the same problem and it seems to be associated with reduced WiFi sensitivity. Full speed downloading (6Mbps) when close the AirPort base station but drops to almost zero a couple of rooms away. Upload is not affected. My wife's iPad on 3.2.2 is fine in all locations on the same network. Lucky for me I did not upgrade hers!

Were you able to downgrade to 3.2.2 without jailbreaking?

Yup. Count me in on this too. Upgraded to 4.2 and found that it now takes 4 to 5 mins to download two simple (no graphics) emails. It's driving me nuts. Apple we need a fix.

I've tried all the "solutions" offered here and elsewhere, but the problem comes back every time.

When will Apple offer an official fix for this? How can they let this go on without a response?

I'm having two different experiences. At home where everything is Apple, I have no problems with connection or speed. Haven't reset anything. However, at work (with Lynksys) I see no difference from before and after upgrade. I can't stay on the internet. I did the reset stuff but no solution. I'm going to take an Airport Express to place in my office and add to the network and see if it helps. My DCHP keeps changing address to a 169. .***. which our tech says is always a bad sign. With connection it is 10. .**. or something like that.

I'd have preferred to wait a few days for a real WiFI fix. WiFI is really important where I work.

I'm also having problems since the upgrade. I have two bars of signal but I can't access the net. Had no problems before the upgrade using the ipad in the same spot.

Same issue here. Since 4.2, I noticed checking email and Twitter being incredibly slow. Tried my browser, saw white screens for far longer than usual.

Tried a few different sites, and tried from work on the office WiFi. Same issue.

Something in OS4.2 has affected WiFi in a bad way. It's painfully slow using any app that sends data.

WIsh I could say that this fix worked, but it didn't. iPad is now practically unusable.

just posting to say my iPad has also become a very expensive paper weight.
internet is so slow.... took 8 hours to download an iPad app. YouTube takes an age to load...
basically, it's rubbish.

It is intolerable. YouTube, Hulu Tv, etc. Would be useless on my iPad if I didn't have 3G. Fix it fast, please, Apple.

No, no jailbreak necessary. Apple must still be signing 3.2.2. Just find a copy of 3.2.2 (a quick Google search should do), then in iTunes hold alt or option when clicking restore. In the dialogue box that comes up, go find the 3.2.2 ipsw file you downloaded.
