iPad Remote / Home Sharing IP Address Doesn't Match

Hi Guys,

I am trying to set up home sharing on my iPad and iMac, I have checked both devices and although they are on the same wireless network they have slightly different IP addresses, I have tried manually entering the details however this hasn't worked. How can I make the two devices IP address correspond so that they can "talk" with each other and create a home sharing network?

iPad, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Now that's rather interesting about Skyhook data because in Australia it was reported that Google got into some pretty significant trouble as a result of allegedly breaching Australian Telecommunications and Privacy laws for the drive by recording of Router IP Addresses and tying them to a GPS location.

My guess is that Skyhook data is by agreement as Routers in Private Hands are likely to have Dynamic IP addresses.

This is likely related to the fact that when I am using my home internet connection I cannot use any of the "use my current location" features on a

doubtful that is causing the issue.
Your router is probably not registered at Skyhook.com with the coordinates which is why it doesn't show your location.

Do any of your internet apps work on your iPad at home using your wifi?

It was a bit of a tickle but nothing was "illegal" so not much was done. Google did become a bit more open about what they were doing.
Since the wifi was publicly broadcast, there were no privacy laws broken

Don't need the ip address. Besides, those can easily change all the time. Just need the MAC (hardware) address, which broadcast.

Whilst I am no expert the Australian telecommunications act specifically prohibits the interception of radio signals and given that a Router is a radio device and by design it broadcasts specific information including its mac address the question therefore is whether the capture of the broadcast given the reason for its capture is a legal or illegal interception.
