iOS 4.2.1 & Bluetooth Problems?

Have any of you experienced problems with iOS 4.2.1 recognizing your bluetooth device? I have 2 bluetooth headsets, and my iPhone 4 will not find the connection. It says it is searching, but continues to "search" without finding the devices and I have made sure they are turned on as well.

iPhone 4, iOS 4, updated to 4.2.1

I have a GMC truck with hands free. The Bluetooth connected, worked for 3 days then today simply connects then disconnects and I cannot hear my calls. Apple if you are reading this. I turned in a perfectly working Driod to get this Iphone and now it is not connecting to a truck I drive over 30K miles a year in and do most of my talking on the road. Please don't make me go back to the Driod and FIX the bluetooth issue.

Ok I'm apple developer (not associated w/ apple, i just write apps for hire) and I got identical issue on my iPhone 4G iOS4.1.x

Phone does not see Mercedes headset, nor i can connect to my earpiece. Well car is not even listed. While headset is visible but it says not paired and i can not pair w/ it 😟

Both car and headset are in discovery mode. They both work totally fine with Android based phones. So I know that devices are OK and my paring procedures are OK.... yet iPhone ignores me 😟

This really annoying, i wonder can i send traffic tickets for reimbursements? If i can not pair phone to the car or headset and it is local law that prohibits use of phones on the road then technically Apple should be liable for tickets 🙂 Although I'm sure there is liability provision that will make waive all responsibilities of apple...

Anyway so far i see ppl have issues for almost a year and there is no solution. So I guess if your BT does not work then there is Android 🙂 When Apple will lose its market share all over the sudden BT will start working 🙂 Thats what I seen in developing tools like with Adobe Flash... 🙂

Well if some one finds solution I would love to se it but for now add me to unhappy customers list.

I wonder if anyone from Apple Tech is reading any of these questions/concerns? I know if I worked at Apple and saw this thread, I'd be all over it, at least giving feedback in here so a fix could be in the works.
I've just purchased the Verizon iPhone 4 and it's running OS 4.2.6 and like the rest of you, it just stays in a discovery mode and won't even connect to my iMac!
I too had the first Motorola Droid and it works fine. Sure it's getting slow but it did pair up with my Jawbone Icon head set.
Let's hope that Apple get's this right before Jobs kicks the bucket.

Apple Tech does NOT read the forums, as it said in the TOU that you presumably read. And, as most phones do not have the problem, you should contact Apple directly via telephone support or by visiting a Genius Bar. This is the only way Apple knows about problems; by the number of support requests through these channels.

It certainly won't connect to your iMac, as that protocol is not supported by the iPhone - by design. It SHOULD connect with your BT headset; if it doesn't try resetting the headset. And visit the headset manufacturer's forum for instructions on pairing with an iPhone.

I've sent a message to Apple in regards of the BT issue with the headset. Unfortunately this is a repeating question on the Jawbone website and all indications point to Apple as the culprit for not allowing BT connectivity after the latest update on the iPhones.
I live in Delaware and by law we have to have hands free devices here and in Maryland.

contacting apple is nice, and hopefully they will get annoyed by support requests, but I can assure this is apple fault that some devices are not working. Actually main reason why i got on the forum is because we have an order to manufacture custom BT device, we build it to TB specks BT 2.1 ERD it works with all phones but 1 🙂 I can't contact manufacturer because I am developer 😟 And I can not do anything in device because it is build to specks of the standard.

So, 1 hour after resetting the iPhone AND the Jawbone, I finally paired the two together. But I felt like what I had done to reset the Jawbone was not like I was instructed on Jawbone's website.
As far as the connectivity issues some folks were having in here, I've had the two paired now for over 1 hour with no issues and no disconnections.
I work in an office type area and can recieve the signal from at least 40' away without any signal loss or decrease in volume.
So far, so good.

Connection issues with a brand new Plantronics Voyager Pro. It will pair with my iPhone 4 (iOS 4.2.1) but won't stay connected. Sometimes it's only minutes, sometimes 1-2 hours, but it will drop connection guaranteed. I get a beep when the connection is lost and if I press the Call button right away, it will reconnect most of the time. Sometimes I have to reboot the headset to reconnect.

It's a real hassle too because it's illegal to have a phone to your ear if you're driving here. Speakerphone mode doesn't work very well so Bluetooth is the best option. I never had this problem with my old 3G.

Same issue exists for me with 4.3GM on my iphone4.
maybe I try another vendor. Since 4.2 the bluetooth connection to my car doesn't work as with 4.2.1.
nothing seems to have changed in the new version.

bluetooth get stuck after a while (few hours to a few days) need a few more seconds to turn off (if you switch it off) after turning on once again it works a while as before and after some time the same.
no connection can be done, not only from the car, but also from the mac (tethering)

with 4.1 it worked like a charm... and due to the f**king apple restrictions I can't downgrade my iphone to an older version - thanks apple to buy such a **** for EUR 700.

Keep in mind you can restore Bluetooth connectivity (as long as each device or vehicle has been previously paired) temporarily by either toggling in and out of Airplane Mode (Settings) or toggling Bluetooth on or off (Settings>General>Bluetooth). Both are inconvenient workarounds but they succeed until the next time the phone spends an extended period of time within a recognized Wifi network.
