I opened iCal (have used it for years) and all seemed fine, I went to enter some new events (dates certain bills were due) and all of a sudden many of my items were missing from current (nov) and future months, they were also missing from October, though all seem to be there for September and before that.
What would cause these categories of events to just disappear?
How can I return them? (without having to manually enter every work date, appointment etc that is missing)
It seems from October on the only things left are "recurring events"
Any help would be greatly appreciated !
iMac 2.8 Aluminum,
Mac OS X (10.5.6),
also an intel MBP, G5 2.5 dp, G4,G3...
I have just discovered a similar problem. I only have non-recurring entires for the last 3 months left in my iCal. Is there a way to get them all back?
I continue to have the problem with lost data "worked on by engineers". I have uploaded various data capture items to them.
As of now they are still working on it , though still no resolution of the lost data, or explanation of why it happened.
Most of my iCal data from Oct. back is gone also I called Apple tech and he sent me here . He said he could help for $50.00 , or set me up with a Genius ! I'll chime in if I find any insights . Thanks Steven
I have just discovered an iCal problem when I went to print out some copies for a family member - untimed events which I did not enter added to the calendar, which appear to be copies over successive weeks of repeat events that were entered on Thursdays only. Once I saw the pattern I deleted and reentered the events, though I couldn't see any problem with the original entries. In other words, if I entered an event to repeat every Thursday for so many weeks, for the next month it was duplicated on the calendar without showing a time, and only in the print version - these duplicate dates don't show up in the regular iCal screen, only on printed versions. Weird. So it seems there are other things suddenly wrong with iCal. I, too, have used iCal for years with no problem.
I just lost information for several Thousands of dollars. All the info was there last night. Kept my macbook pro on.
Looked at it this morning and everything before April 26th as disappeared. I am SO disappointed. I love macs and this seems so unreal. I can not find any explanation for this behavior. I was hoping to find a special place that would save/backup my infos. What a flaw...... There must be a solution. Will post again if I find one.
I love Apple, i start from MacBook, later was iPhone, now iPad... But i think it was bad decission. I had the same problem i lose all Events for december 2011, i wirte to support Apple, to answer they give me link to this conversation. Sick:(
For what it's worth I'm still suffering with intermittant calendar problems in April 2012. Typical symptoms are you create a new entry then wait a bit and it's gone. You think, did I just create that? So you create another one and suddenly two appear.
Like many things Mac, you wait for Apple to do something but they won't tell you when, if, nor what they've done.
If it helps. I did have the same problem as others on this post. I solved my problem. As seen in my screenshot. Make sureyour calendardate descriptions/colors codes are checked. Mine weren't checked for some reason, making me think that all my calendar information had disappeared. Hope it helps someone else out!
