Iphone 3GS 4.2.1 problem-battery

Hello every one, at first I' sory for my English, I know it's not perfect.
I saw many topics with same problem, but I cant fix it 😟

I instaled the 4.2.1 software and after that my battery in my Iphone 3GS is weaker..

Before update I could use my Iphone a day with, now I need to charge it ;/

Let me show you:
Almost every day I had full charged ( from 10% or less to 100%) Iphone at morning beacuse I was charging him at night.

Now I have charged my Iphone from 0% to 100% and atm I have :
Usage : 3h 39min
Standby: 7h 15min
I want to added that at morning I was using my Iphone for 10min at internet and battery was 100% after that was 93%, 2min later 89%. OMG!
Before I could use it for 5 or more hours and I was in standby mode for 24h or more.

What I was doing on Iphone?
Internet-2h
Games -30min
Calls- 10min
Messages-20min
Doing something with Iphone -39min

I was 2h on Internet but I have turned off 3G and WI-FI so it was normal GSM connection with internet.
All push, notifacations, GPS etc etc were OFF.
Screen at 50% brightness.

I had restored my Iphone many times.
As a new Iphone
With a backup, nothing have changed.

What can I do ?
Can some one help me ?

Now I need to charge my Iphone twice a day !
It ***** a lot.

Please help me.

Greeting from Poland!

Yeah. I only turn on Bluetooth and WIFI when I need them(WIFI at home and Bluetooth on the way there)..Saves battery. I haven't seen an app that shows all processes and percentages out there, but I haven't looked real hard yet. I think I might start to look though. If you find one let me know...Usage of 32 min so far and 5 hrs standby...down to 96%...That sounds more like it now...I think I alleviated the drain I found last night...I haven't figured out what caused it though. Do the math...That's pretty good. But that's just pretty much sitting on standby doing nothing. Nothing running. WIFI-Bluetooth-3G off. Push off. Brightness almost all the way down. I don't play with the phone too much or make many calls in a day either. I play some AB and watch some Youtube at night. I text mostly, and u don't need 3G or WIFI for that. I also usually have 4-5 bars at my desk, so it's not straining to hit the towers either.

With a meticulously maintained iPhone 3GS, new in February, the phone's battery drains very quickly on standby on 4.2.1. For a top-dollar phone, on what's widely-said to be the best platform available, that's absolutely unacceptable. Just like WIntel platforms, Apple rolls out changes which adversely affect each user, and they're glacial to fix them. Why would anyone accept this, and what idiocy possessed Apple to release this whey knew it? The answer is they don't care, and must be forced into delivering the value they claim to have. ***?

EACH user? Nonsense! The rollout does not affect any users at all negatively, but sometimes the update process does. And it is not a problem for the overwhelming majority of users. For the few who do have a problem there are ways to fix it. Read the thread you just posted to for how.

Yeah, like I said, I got my 3GS the day you could order the IP4. I've only had the 1 issue with 4.0. Also, like I said, if you still have a problem after following suggestions given here, and are still under warranty, hit the Genius Bar. But make sure you sync everything like contacts, calendars, apps etc. with iTunes/Outlook or whatever. If you have pics or vids in your Camera Roll, when you plug phone into USB(with Windows), it should map a drive to it. Drill down into the folders and find your pics and vids and drag them into your machine somewhere. I didn't do that before I went there that time, and lost everything. Fortunately, I had done a backup before, and did the bad thing of restoring from backup, just to get those pics and vids back, then I blew away the phone and started over. I do agree that Apple should provide the ability to revert BACK to a previous version of choice. I do not like they way they are playing with us in that respect. This is mostly why the jailbreaking community is so large...and getting larger. I don't recommend JB. Then you loose Apple support, which was a good experience for me...

I've been loosing nearly twice as much battery since I installed the latest update a week ago, I used to be able to go 3-4 days without charging but since the update I've had to charge nearly every day.

Thanks to Lawrence's advice it now looks like I am back to normal, charged to 100% last night & currently at 96% after 22 mins usage & 7 hours standby, only had to go as far as step 1.

Thanks

I found after the update my phone was warm and going flat in a few hours. There is obviously an issue with the software and power consumption on one of the wireless services or with battery calibration. I found that turning off 3G, Cellular Data, Wifi, BlueTooth, Location Services and Data Roaming fixed it for me (so was just left with 2G services). The update also whacked all my music. I've managed to turn on 3G and Cellular Data again without severely impacting battery life (but it's still poor). I found that doing a full resync really helped things with the latest iTunes.

Hey, Lawrence: I had already read the thread before my post and was trying to avoid time-consuming software reinstallations or tweaks. My phone's problem was finally reduced but not solved by wiping and re-installing the OS. Just like one would do with the dreaded Windows OS. But for an Apple device which is less a year old and cared for in a meticulous manner, I don't find that level of work acceptable, nor do I find that the iPhones battery life of a day is acceptable.

So, I don't see Apple's business practices being much different than the Wintel monopoly. Also, it seems the tone of your reply was apologetic on behalf of Apple, instead of bearing in mind that we're paying them - not the reverse. There's nothing amiss with suggesting that Apple stands to make more money by draining batteries to replace than providing fixes.

Hi, people.

I have the same problem with my battery since instal ios 4.2.1.
Before ios 4.2.1, overnight, charging my battery went from 100 to 95%. Today after installing 4.2.1 ios, it goes from 100 to 80% over the same period.
I already restart my iphone 3gs, but the problem remains.
I don´t know what´s happening.
Someone can help me?
or i have to wait until ios 4.3??
