Well, it is untrue because I have heard of other carriers unlocking phones from other carriers and Apple doing so as well. The best example is the UK carrier of Apple phones.
I didn't not say that anyone who responds to me is threatened by me. I was talking to KiltedTim as he has continuely responded only to my posts and to no one elses. It does not have to do with you.
Just found this,
It might help to understand who has authorization to unlock phones and who does not.

I don't quite understand how this proves your point... it only shows exactly what we've been telling you. Click on The United States and all the carriers do not have the "Carrier authorizes unlocking" box checked.
I wasn't trying to prove a point.
but I was refering to previous posts about people unlocking their phones that were another carrier with the UK carrier Orange.
I am not commenting on US only, I am commenting about the entire world.
No, I am annoyed by you. And I was not debating AT&T's policy, I was correcting an ERROR OF FACT.
Why do you refuse to accept reality.

Provide proof to support this.
"I have heard" = rumor. Forbidden on this forum.

How in the world can you interpret this to mean that a carrier othe than the one the phone is locked to can unlock it?
You are wrong. Plain and simple.
To all who have responded to this discussion
STOP!
You are all beating a dead horse. Search the Internet to unlock a iPhone.
Again, this only proves our point. Orange will only unlock phones that were on contract with Orange for at least three months. Again, carriers will only unlock phones that were locked to their network.
stevejobsfan0123 is absolutely correct. The page you linked to clearly states that the handset MUST be registered to Orange. What part of that do you interpret to mean that you can get another carriers phone unlocked?
But you can bring a phone and put it to their carrier for 3 months, meaning you can buy a phone that is not with orange and put it on the service, register it, for 3 months and then unlock it and get off their network, if you wish.
No. You can NOT do that. You can not register another carriers LOCKED phone with Orange.
And how do you propose to "put it to their carrier for 3 months", considering it is already locked to another network?
Stedman
But you can bring a phone and put it to their carrier for 3 months
How? If it is locked to another network? You really cannot be this confused, can you?
