Mac Mini forgets wifi network after sleep

Hi,

My Mac mini "forgets" my wifi network every time it sleeps. The network name even disappears from the list of available networks. It used to work fine and I can't pinpoint when things changed (the hardware remains unchanged, so I assume an Apple software update is responsble). I'm getting quite tired of typing in my network name and password every time I use my computer! I notice a lot of similar questions on the forum, but no solutions. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Double check this selection:

System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Location : Automatic. Hit the Advanced.. button > Airport tab > check "remember networks this computer has joined". If your network isn't in the Preferred Networks list above, add it.

I had this problem after upgrading to 10.6.7. The date settings also got "forgotten". I thought it might be an internal battery problem but decided it couldn't be because my mac was too new. My friend, with a similar mac mini to mine, did not have the problem, but he's more disciplined with doing regular system software upgrades than I am! My problem was solved by doing a PRAM reset (cmd-alt-P-R) on rebooting.

For me, the problem can be intermittent. Has your pram reset solution held, or has the problem reoccurred since? The MacBook pro in the house has also developed the issue now and the issue has followed us from an Airport Extreme to a Time Capsule... My guess would be it's an OSX issue. Still driving me insane!

Same problem on a 13" white 2008 macbook. This just started two days ago, when I originally upgraded to Lion it wasn't doing this. Has there been a solution yet?

I was able to just fix a problem like this on a friend's iMac. I did it by removing all the old Preferred Networks -- in system preferences, select Networks -> Wi-Fi and then hit the Advanced... button. You will then see the Preferred Networks listed.

In his case, he renamed the network so the same router was known by two names, which might have been causing the problem, but deleting all the Preferred Networks (I just remembered, I also removed the

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist file)

I have just checked my Keychain and in there was my router listed by it's factory default name (from when we initially set it up) as well as by the name we assigned it. I have now deleted the factory name. Hopefully this will stop the password being dropped. (I am using Macbook with Snow Leopard).

hi all,

the only solution that i could find is the following:

1- use your mobile as a router.

2- then your mac will find your monbile wifi.

3- connect to it.

4- wait 10 seconds.

5- then you mac mini will detect your original router signal then you connect to it.

hope this helps.

but it is strange that Apple support team is sitting idle till now and we are finding the soultion.

Remember to read through all the procedures before fixing.

there is one super really frustratingly stupidly hard step:

Upgrade to OS X 10.7

- amazing person.
