I hate Apple Mail

Does anyone else have a problem with Apple mail? I have to constantly call my ISP to get my mail working again. I'm constantly being asked for my password and when I type it in, it says it's not correct. So back to the ISP where they suggest that I change my password. I now have such a long list of passwords that I have to constantly check to see which one is the current one. My isp guy told me that since the inception of OS 10.4 there has been a problem with apple mail and that it is low on their priority list to fix.
Is there another one available that I can get. I'm aware that I will probably have to purchase a new program if there is one.
Thanks folks for any help or suggestions!

Do we have the same ISP?
As I said in an earlier reply, someone at Sympatico who took my call, and control of my computer, accessed the Key Chain and removed some file from there. I'm really not sure exactly what he did but I have not had the problem since then. Prior to that, it happened 5-6 times a day. I'm not sure if that indicates a problem with the ISP or with Apple mail.

I'm having a hard time getting a straight answer from Comcast, but I think in order to get IMAP I'd need to switch from residential to business for internet, and therefore pay a lot more. I'm working with my local Comcast office to see if there is some other solution. The local Comcast guys are pretty cool, so I might get an IMAP solution from them that doesn't cost a fortune.
