Dynex Mini Display Port to HDMI Adapter to 32'' LG TV

I recently bought an HDMI output from my Macbook Pro to use on my LG 32'' TV. I connect it, and the screen refreshes and turns blue, but the TV is saying no signal. I open up Display options in System Preferences and click on Gather Windows and Detect Displays and still nothing shows up on the TV. Any help and or advice?

I just bought my Pro. It's a 13' 7,1 2010 Thanks.

I too am having the same problem and I cant figure it out, Its weird because it works no problem on my older tv in my room but it wont work on the newer tv I have in my living room. I went to the apple store tonight and asked them about this issue and they said they have not heard anything about this but that if you open up the system prefs and then display there should be three tabs on the top if your computer is reading the output you have plugged in. I checked that when I got home and noticed that it is not there so I am assuming that Dynex is just a low quality brand and I will be taking it back to best buy and getting myself the apple recomended one tm and I will let you know how that works. If anyone has any advice as to how this issue can be or was resolved please do tell.
Thanks in advance,

I have been using the "apple issued" mini display port to HDMI adaptor without any problems for the past 12 months, however, just 3 days ago i began to have the same problems which you describe below (and which many other posts to this board have as an issue). My MBP does not detect any external monitors (I have taken out to my living room sony and it does not work there either). Within system preferences, displays - there indeed are only 2 tabs at the top (display and color). Detect displays does not work. I have attempted the "fixes" described elsewhere as well in multiple combinations (clamshell, tv on/off, usb keyboard/mouse turn-on from sleep, etc.......). This is driving me a bit nuts as I had really become accustomed to a dual screen workspace (MBP screen for email, monitor for working). ANY ADVICE would be greatly appreciated. Is it possible the new 10.6.6 upgrade for the app store created this problem (as timing is quite coincidental)?!

Unfortunately I don't have that tab so I opened Displays and in the search box typed "mirror displays" and then received this warning pop-up:

"The Arrangement tab of Displays preferences is hidden because you only have a single display attached to this computer."

So it's not even recognizing that I have the adapter plugged in to an HDMI cable that's plugged into the TV that is on and switched to that specific input. It's almost as if the entire cable is all of a sudden bad OR every HDMI input on my TV is now dead. Of course the latter is not the case because my Blu-Ray works fine in every HDMI port. Maybe after the Snow Leopard update the mini-adapter is the tank trap and nothing is recognized there. If so it makes sense as the HDMI cable after it and the TV wouldn't be accessible either. I am so over this at this point.

I have no idea if this will work but I'm at the office and can't do it from here. So read this first and then go to the "pram" site he mentions which is below as well.

The guy who posted this has 5,000+ posts so I'm thinking he knows his stuff (I hope!)
