stream AVIs to appleTV?

Here's my current setup:

I download movies from Vuze, usually in AVI format. I use DivX Converter, which runs automatically. I believe it's a plug-in for quicktime...? Anyway, I want to be able to stream these AVI movies on AppleTV, keeping me from having to go to it with an HDMI/Audio cable that'll just simply be annoying. From what I can tell, AppleTV will only let you view files that are in the "Movies" section of iTunes -- is this true?

More than anything else...

Is there any way I can view torrent-download AVI movies, streaming, on AppleTV? If yes, how so?

I have to ask here. Is this now a moot point since AirPlay Mirroring became available?

Of course it's relevant. Apple's airplay mirroring works but not well. The video quality is nowhere near as good as if your'e using "Beamer." Plus, not everyone has an upgraded Mac that would allow them to mirror. "Beamer" all the way.

Scorger, that's a good point you make for older Macs since AirPlay Mirroring only works on mid-2011 and newer Macs. However, I feel just the opposite about AirPlay v Beamer. I can't get Beamer to work as advertised while AirPlay had been flawless - with full HD quality...

I would suggest you iSkysoft Video Converter, it should convert and compress most of those formats for iPod, iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.
