TomTom 1.6 problems with iPhone 4 (4.2.1 8C148))

Recently updated new TomTom Western Europe to iPhone 4 and it stopped working. When you start the application, it display TomTom logo screen (loading screen) and then quits. The application remains active in background (double tap home button) but remains non functional. Launching the application again repeats the above.

I have tried to uninstall the application from iPhone and iTunes and reloading and installing the application again and also rebooting the iPhone (also tried restore) and same results. The said application works fine on wife iPhone 3GS with same iOS (although it is marked 8C148a).

I can confirm this works for NZ version too, changing to NZ in international

Hi There, I made the change as explained in the International setting, and change to "France". After that the app opens !

Wow. Thanks for the advice. I can confirm this worked for USA + Canada version. A big fail for TomTom customer support.

As an originator of this thread, I would like to express my thanks for jc3gs for posting a solution this problem. With his instructions, the application is working again. I will submit this solution to TomTom as well, so they can fix it in future versions.

Have a distinct problem with TomTom Wester Europe with the iPhone4 OS 4.2.1
The application works fine but kills all audio in the iPhone frequently.
Anybody have had the same problem? When the TomTom application is removed the phone works fine. There must be a software combination 'bug'.
Hope that somebody has a fix for this problem? /Flemming Gade

THANK YOU for this solution! It worked for me too.

I just wanted to also point out that after launching TomTom for the first time in the UK settings, I changed the region format back to US and the program still works.

I also had a problem where Tom Tom would crash when I tried to install a map share update.

Fixed it by going to Tom Tom 'change settings', 'reset', and resetting 'downloaded' and 'my' map corrections.

Once this was done all map corrections downloaded with no further crashes.
