Can't AirPrint through belkin router

Hi, I am trying to print from my iPad, iPhone through AirPrint and trying to print through my iMac and MacBook through standard wireless, neither are working. I have a basic router which will allow me to print through AirPrint but it's a really slow router. I have a hp b110a photosmart printer, I know it does AirPrint. My router has the latest firmware update. Ivetried switching off or on every setting I can see around the wireless part and firewall par, but still no joy. Can someone help, please

Yes - It's the Bonjour bit that's failing nothing to do with DAAP.

Some news - Belkin have today posted a firmware update for the Play Max N600 (F7d4401uk) router - version 1.00.46. The release notes say:

* Fixes PPTP VPN connection issue
* Fixes MTU issue which could prevent certain sites from loading
* Fixes library sharing issue in conjunction with iTunes
* Miscellaneous bug fixes

Who knows whether the third point means they fixed the Bonjour discovery problems? and hence AirPrint. I'll test it as soon as I get home

The firmware update for the F7D4401uk Belkin router has fixed all my problems with Bonjour, Airprint, Airplay streaming, shared iTunes libraries etc. Great news for me - I hope they release an equivalent update for the OP's router too.

To make things as hard as possible for the router, I connected my Macbook, wired to the router, the Apple TV wired to a switch that's wired to the router. My iPhone was connected to the 2.4Mhz wifi & my iPad was connected to the 5Mhz wifi. Everything worked seamlessly:

* I can print from my iPad and my iPhone via airprint to the printer connected to my Macbook (which has Airprint Activator)

* I can stream movies from my iPad to the apple tv.

* The Apple Remote app controls the Apple TV fine from both the iPad & iPhone

* iTunes on both my macbook & PC can see a shared iTunes library I have on an Iomega home storage NAS box

* iTunes on both my macbook & PC can see each others libraries

* The Apple TV can see the libraries on my macbook and my PC.

I'm a happy bunny!

Hello again Andrew

Many thanks for this, I don't want to seem ungrateful for your help but these Routers are all old or obsolete models surely HP or Apple tested this on more uptodate routers.
On a brighter note I got hold of a old model WRT54GL LINKSYS router this is actually for Cable not ADSL, however you can inter link it with your own router, I have managed to get AIRPRINT working, this is not an ideal solution having 2 routers linked together but will suffice for now, since we Last spoke a earlier entry on the forum by Colin says Belkin have now released a firm ware upgrade for the F7D4401uk and this update now allows AirPrint to work successfully, I have one coming in the morning to test I'll report bak on this also.
Happy to help any body that has this crazy issue with AirPrint

The majority of testing was done on AirPort routers since that's what we regularly use for Apple testing. Our Networking team has tested our devices with more routers, but not the AirPrint folk. I have asked for additional testing to be done and will report back the results as I get them. As for what Apple tested, I can't say, but given they sell the AirPorts my guess is that is also what they focused on.

Just trying to help.

Okay we have 2 happy Bunnies.

So the only Non Apple Router to work with AirPrint is a Belkin F7d4401uk + firmware upgrade.

I purchased 3 of these routers in the end, I have just setup the first one at home and Bingo it works great, thanks for posting this info hopefully others will read this and not have to put up with the issues we have both had.
Many Thanks
Richard

Good morning Andrew

So if you now get asked you can confirm that you can also AirPrint with the Belkin F7d4401uk router, after upgrading the firmware to the latest release. Above is also known as the Playmax.
This a current model and readily available, not cheap though but it will future proof anyone that buys one.

My earlier posting re the WRT54GL this is the cheaper option and readily available it is a cable router but will work in conjunction with any standard Router with spare network port.

Hope you can help others with this information and tell the techs back at your office.

Richard,

Any and all information helps. And feedback from users who have functioning routers is the best kind. With the modern resource constraints we simply can't test every router with every printer, otherwise I'd be doing it and posting a list. In the meantime, I think I'll start a list and keep it up to date, and get it added to my FAQ thread at some point.

Thanks again for posting back the information.

Andrew
