How do I sort Notes alphabetically?

Is it possible to sort the Notes on my iPhone 4? Alphabetically would be great, but I'll take any suggestions. (I know I can use other apps - I'm asking about Notes specifically.)

Thanks!

PC, iOS 4

once again you are displaying a condescending attitude towards people who come on here looking for help. It figures Allen's answer is one you'd consider appropriate.

IBdont knowvwhy i why I look at this forum bits like the Wild West where anything goes unless its something negative about Apple in which case it gets deleted automatically. If Apple would weed out the hateful (towards people looking for help) people who regularly disenfranchise new folks they'd have a much better community.

Please explain how this answer is "inappropriate" to the original question :

"In a word, no.

They are sorted by date."

The OP also marked one of Allan's answers helpful. In fact, Allan and the OP seemed to have a quite pleasant interaction. It's only five years on that someone is upset about it.

I am a former PC programmer and support engineer and I currently teach Software Engineering at a Chinese college, but I have no clue how to write a script to sort notes on an iPhone. 😊 Can you either tell me how, or point me to a tutorial or set if instructions on writing scripts like that? Thanks!!!!

The person to whom you replied hasn't posted in these forums in two years. The type of script they were referring to was an Automator script on a Mac, as best I can tell. An internet search should turn up information on how to use Automator if you're so inclined and have a Mac.

Or, you could just use a third party program that lets you sort notes. Searching the App store for a notes program that meets your needs would probably take you far less time than writing (and using) such a script. I do understand you may just want to write a script for the fun of it.

It is ridiculous that one cannot sort Notes on the iPhone when one can on the Mac. Apple needs to do something about this.

Otherwise Evernote is best.

Comparing the Notes app to Evernote is like comparing a skateboard to a 16-wheeler. Even if Apple added the ability to sort Notes, it wouldn't be in the same category of programs as Evernote. For many people, people who just want to take a few short notes, Evernote is overkill. For others of us, it's essential.

You don't know much, then. Evernote syncs in near real time across all devices. If a device doesn't have an internet connection its files will be updated when the connection is restored. If it does have a connection the sync is every 5 minutes or on demand. And it's worked that was from the first version of Evernote, which was released 8 years ago.

I have Evernote on 2 computers, 3 iPhones and 2 iPads. And all of them stay in sync, immediately if I have a connection, or when a connection becomes available.

The last I encountered with Evernote was if you did not have an internet connection you could not get your files. Thumbs down on that!

Yes, Evernote is designed around the idea of, if not constant connection, at least frequent. Unless you pay for premium, as I recall, you do not have offline access to notebooks on mobile devices. However, the cost of premium is well worth it for that feature and the many others. I've been using Evernote for users, most of it as a premium subscriber (it's pretty cheap) and I think it's an absolutely amazing program. I'm the first to admit, however, that, for some people, it's unnecessary.

To the best of my knowledge, it is still not possible to alphabetize notes in Notes. You may want to search the App Store for an app that better meets your needs.
