Logic wish list for next release

Cosmetics may not be important for some but for the rest of us it is.
When I work with PT9 or DP7 I am amazed how beautiful they look. It makes it so easy and pleasing to work with them. BUT I like Logic Pro better for everything else so APPLE if you read this MAKE LOGIC PRO WITH THEMES (COLORS CHOICES) OR SPECTRUM CHOICES AS IN PT9 and DP7 . IT MAKE LIFE BETTER WHEN YOU WORK 10 -12 HOURS A DAY ON PROJECT.
The Dark gray color In Logic is nice but boring. Other competitor are cathing with a pleasing environment.
DP7 is a wonder and EM choices of DAW for 2010 Cosmetics are important to.
Thanks:-)

On the color topic - even without changing skins, there are some color options in prefs. My arrange page is the same soothing pale green color as my score paper. My piano roll editor is two shades of purple. The gray would have drove me nuts years ago, but the color options have been available at least since I started with Logic 7.

More importantly: I'd love to see mute and solo indicators on channel strips when tracks are muted/soloed, and visa versa.

I'd love a time readout in minutes, seconds, and choice of fractions or frames, that corresponds to time between locators or markers, or to the length of selected regions. (Or do they already have that without a few clunky extra steps?)

How about an option to always have the click on when you go into record, even when you shut it off towards the end of the previous take(s)?

Let's have a button to press and have Logic take a minute to do all the cpu load/core/thread balancing while we catch our breath and know what to expect - rather than have it happen while we're bearing our soul performing the most brilliant thing no one will ever hear... now.

yo christian,

i went via the link you posted to the forum, then from there i downloaded from edgar r's site two folders, one called 'GUI for L9' and the other 'GUI Images for Logic Pro 9 2' and followed the instructions to load the .tiff files into the appropriate folders in the logic app.

everything went according to expectations EXCEPT that the colour on the meters has not changed over to the GREEN/RED scheme which is SAD. however the meters ARE now calibrated in db & everything else looks gr8, transport buttons glowing, purple cycle bar (with bright red super-visible movement brackets) etc, etc.

love to get this meter issue sorted tho' 😉

My Logic wish list hasn't changed in years -- I want all the features Logic SHOULD have had 5 years ago (like most of their competitors) --

1- simpler, more efficient handling of multi-timbral VI's without the need to set up aux routing just to control pan and volume on the individual MIDI channels.

2- dedicated features for headphone mixes and talkback.

3- Fix the file naming system, so every project doesn't create identical files with names like "audio 1" or "guitar 1", etc. You should be able to specify a project-wide 'prefix' (ie. "MySong_Audio1"). Final Cut Pro works like this. Logic USED to work like this. But with the current "system" of naming things after the channel strip, you either have to create custom channel strip names in every project, or end up with repeated generic file names that make searching a nightmare.

Do the above 3 and fix the bugs and I'd stop plotting my switch over to PT.

Another little wish: EXS24 or Ultrabeat being able to make use of the CC#4 hihat pedal data from Ronald drum kits. For instance, the possiblity to have 4 hihat samples (between closed and fully open), that will be chosen based on the current value of the CC#4.
It's great that audiogrocery made a tool for this, but it would be even nicer if Logic could do it by itself...

Save tags entered when bouncing an mp3. I should not have to re-enter all of the info (composer, etc.) every time I bounce to a sound file. The title of the sound file should be the same as the file, or the file with the current marker's name in parenthesis.
I wish there was some feature analogous to DP's multiple sequences within a file. This could be implemented as a global 'take' feature, but I'd rather have multiple sequences.

Hi Jazz & others,

yes, I know the environment is very powerful, but I haven't managed yet to build a filter that does this trick 😟
I have a fair amount of programming experience and midi knowledge, but either I don't completely understand the transformer object in the environment, or it's just not possible...

Jaap
