Apple TV Crashing / Resetting Itself

My Apple TV (2nd Generation) has started to reset itself after a few minutes of either a program or movie. The first crash happens usually after about 15 mins of viewing, but then subsequent ones occur after around 5 mins.

I'm running up to date software version 4.1.1 and my itunes is the current version of 10.1.1 (4)

I've tried resetting all settings but its made no difference. Any ideas on what to try next?

Also joining this thread. My ATV 2 started doing this about two weeks ago. Random reboots. This only started after I installed Lion. I updated the ATV 2 to the latest update today (was delaying it to see if there were any problems...) and the problem persists.

This only happens when I am streaming movies or music via Airplay. Then again, I don't use it for anything else.

Same here in France: Running latest Imac 27 with Lion + Apple TV2 V 4.3(2557). Keeps crashing and the only thing I can see on my TV is the famous spinning wheel. Besides complaining, I have checked the web and a lot more Apple TV customers complain about this phenomenom and it does not look that Apple wants to do anything about it: no communication, no update planned, nothing! If THEY don't want to do anthing what can WE do to make them help us?

Ive worked it out, it is a replicatable bug. 1 week ago I changed the screensaver settings from the animals built in photos to my library. You can temporarily fix the crashes by disabling your photos and returning to the inbuilt in ones or. Alternatively you can change the settings to not display the screen saver during music.

Hopefully apple fix this, I have no idea how to notify them.

Daniel.

I have the same issue and it is when the screensaver showing photos shared from iTunes starts. If you make your iPhoto library that you are sharing smaller it can alleviate the issue, but I haven't found the threshold number of photos. Also having it on wired/wireless doesn't solve the issue.

If you disable the screensaver it solves the problem. Hopefully we get a fix soon...
