I made the account on faceTime, and when i go to sign in it comes up "The user name or password for (my email) was incorrect, Try again." and when i do try again the same page comes up.
Apologies guys I have to do a large Homer DOH! found out you have to verify your account through your e-mail address, as in log onto your PC and verify the e-mail from Apple, now I have both my kids units working.
I have verified my email address, changed my password several times, tried connecting to Facetime through another wireless connection, and it's still giving me the message that the password is incorrect, even when I know 100% for sure it is correct. I also tried resetting me settings and that didn't work either, but it changed the error message to "check your network connection and try again."
I don't know what else to try. I'll try to get to the apple store in the next week, but it's quite far to get to and I'm not sure if they'll be able to help or not.
I'm getting the same "incorrect" message! I've reset my password on my apple ID so many times, I'm now beginning to have difficulty remembering what password is the present one. I know I'm using the correct password. Is there a solution?
After taking my ipod to an apple store and having the employee successfully log in to his Facetime, we determined that it was not my ipod. I had to change my Facetime log in email address to a different one and it works now. Who knows why my first one wouldn't work, and they couldn't answer that at Apple, either. But it works now. I just hate that it took a week to figure it out.
I had exactly the same experience, including the guy at the Apple Store telling me he had the same issue. I don't want to use a different email address for facetime, though. Hundreds of people know my email address and will try to facetime me with that address.
This is a really serious bug that Apple needs to address.

Re: Can't get the password to be accepted on verified email, with iTouch 4.2.1
It says, "You were signed out of FaceTime because your Appled ID or password changed. Sign in to turn on FaceTime". When I try to, it says, "FaceTime Activation - The user name or password for xxxxxx was incorrect. Try again."
Hi,
I've been scouring these forums for the last week looking for a solution, but I can't get this to work either.
1. My appleid is a real, verified email address.
2. The password includes a capital letter and a number (someone else mentioned this was needed). I have reset the password numerous times through iTunes, and also through the recovery/management links on Apple site, all to no avail.
3. All required ports for FaceTime are forwarded in my router - no difference.
4. Apple ID and password work when using iTunes.
5. I've tried using the Google DNS entries in the Touch, no help.
6. I've tried using previous passwords for that email address, in case (as I suspect), Apple have screwed up the account management and the Touch is perhaps trying to use an old version of the account.
I don't know what else to try. I even went to Apple Support website to log a ticket, only to find you can't log tickets (or am I wrong?), and you only seem to be able to phone up for free within 90 days on a few specific subjects; hopefully I can try this in the week.
Does anyone have a new idea on how to get this working?
