This is my first iPhone at first with a upgrade alarm didn't work on multiple days now in the new year it doesn't work at all! What did I pay alot of money for, a phone that might work. May be my last iPhone never had these problems on any other phone.

Oh you poor baby! The alarm clock on the phone doesn't work and now the entire phone is useless! Definitely a waste of money.

Grow up. Technology's not perfect. Sh|t happens. Accept it and use the same alarm clock you used before you got the iPhone. It's not end of the world.

WHAT is you attitude problem Templeton, every question or comment that concerns a problem with the phone, you act like a big kid, are you being paid by Apple????.

Get a grip there is problems with the phone, people come on here for help not to be made fools of by people like you, all you seem to think is that if there are errors with the phone "thats the way Apple designed it" well i have lost a days pay today, because of a BIG error with the alarm.. but technology isnt perfect is it Templeton I wouldnt call a sinple alarm clock cutting edge technology and they dont even get that right...

I am a pilot and I also have a daughter who is diabetic. Since her diagnosis, we have used the iphone alarm as a reliable way to wake up at night for her regular blood sugar checks and schedule her care throughout the day. Obviously, this is a problem with the newfound bug in the iphone alarm. I find it unacceptable that apple would not make some effort to inform customers of a known problem.

As was stated by a previous poster, there is a trust built in technology that, when used in sync with its function and design, it will work and perform reliably. We missed an entire night of checks on my daughter's blood glucose levels and that could have been potentially life threatening. I also have seen posts of pilots who have missed hotel pickups resulting in late flight departures. For us this is a big deal.

My question is how can Apple send me a daily email about all of the new and exciting Apple products I should shell out for and can send me an email for every iTunes purchase I make but can't make a notice of a breakdown in basic functionality when I have a registered product (several, in fact)?

When can I expect this issue to be resolved?

It wasn't known before it happened. Apple are clever people, but they haven't invented time travel yet.

For something so important, don't you set any backup alarms, just in case the iPhone battery runs out, or you don't hear it?

Hey, Julian,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, we do have backups set. We have two iphones connected to power supplies that are at maximum volume - more than loud enough to wake us up as we're light sleepers. Thanks for asking. How many additional alarms should we set and when should we feel that we have a reliable technology in place that meets the need? I felt that employing the premium smartphone in duplicate was a fair investment in reliability. Obviously, Apple's process for uncovering bugs and ensuring reliability is less than it once was and trending toward Microsoft philosophy.

As far as time travel. Thanks for the smart-a@@ reply. A basic component of process analysis is to look for similar problems when a failure occurs. Daylight savings time caused a major problem for iOs this year. More than enough heads up to build in additional checks for alarm functionality, wouldn't you say?

Have a happy new year.

I had to catch a flight early on Boxing Day, and although I had my iPhone with me and the alarm set, I also set the alarm on my watch, my wife's phone, the hotel TV and set a reminder phonecall. I never trust just one, or even two alarms for something that I cannot afford to miss. And I certainly wouldn't rely on two identical alarms, as the same thing could happen to both. I also set all my backup alarms a minute or two apart.

Perhaps you're not familiar with software development, but no matter how much you bug-test, how many checks you put in, how many variations you check for, how far into the future you simulate, there will always be something that slips through.

I don't know why, but time seems to be a common programming problem. Other non-Apple phones I've had don't handle the DST changes properly. VCRs, DVRs and computers I've owned have had time related issues. I've been caught out by electronic time issues too many times to trust a single device to do something I want reliably, every single time, at the time I wanted.

WHAT is you attitude problem Templeton,

What's my problem? My problem is that people come here, sign up to post, write one post that's nothing but complaining. They act like Armageddon is approaching and we're all going to ****, only then to never show their face again. It's an alarm clock people! It's not the end of the world.

ll you seem to think is that if there are errors with the phone "thats the way Apple designed it"

Show me once where I stated "that's the way Apple designed it" and I'll go away. Oh wait. I never said that.

I'm not saying there isn't an issue here. I'm not saying there's a bug in the software. Of course there is and it will be fixed, but God forbid anyone would realize that it is what it is right now until Apple fixes it.

technology isnt perfect is it Templeton

Didn't I already say that yesterday?

And with that, I'm done with this thread.

I have serious medical issues and rely on the alarm on my iPhone 3G to alert me to take my medication 5 times per day, one of them being in the middle of the night.

It's hardly feasible to set and carry back-up alarms. I never know where I'll be at any given time and luckily don't always sleep in the same bed every night, so setting alarms in all the different places is foolish.

I don't think it's unreasonable to depend on a device to work.

All of my alarms were set to repeat every day. After missing 2 alarms today I began checking these forums and my settings. All the repeating alarms had been cleared by the phone. Once I re-set them to repeat they work again.

If you are still having problems I suggest:
-set your alarms to repeat or
-set your clock to Jan. 3 (Apple has acknowledged the problem and says it should be resolved on Jan. 3 see: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/01/01/appleadmits_new_years_alarmbug.html)

These are User Forums and Apple won't hear from you if you complain here. Send them your concerns here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/

One last thing: DON'T FEED THE TROLLS. All the posters who are riling you up and derailing the discussions just need to be ignored. It doesn't do any good to argue with them- that's what they want.

Happy New Year everyone.

Thanks for the heads up, Apple. I own EVERYTHING Apple and spend a ton of money with you, and depend absolutely on my phone alarm all over the world. You KNOW I have an Iphone4, you KNOW how to contact me in a number of ways, immediately, and yet my alarm is dead and I have to Google on the problem to find out what's wrong. Thanks for the great support!
As another poster said, can you even spell C-U-S-T-O-M-E-R_S-U-P-P-O-R-T?

I don't use the alarm that often but last night I paid an inflated price for a bed and breakfast in Scotland(£350 per night) and I missed my full traditional breakfast this morning because the alarm on my phone did not work I can understand why people are angry, because I was. My alarm clock costs about £5 and its works great, when I pay £500 for a device that its basic function is to ring then I want the alarm to work is that to much to expect.

Everyone's iphone alarm is not work on 2011!!!
