I have serious medical issues and rely on the alarm on my iPhone 3G to alert me to take my medication 5 times per day, one of them being in the middle of the night.
It's hardly feasible to set and carry back-up alarms. I never know where I'll be at any given time and luckily don't always sleep in the same bed every night, so setting alarms in all the different places is foolish.
I don't think it's unreasonable to depend on a device to work.
All of my alarms were set to repeat every day. After missing 2 alarms today I began checking these forums and my settings. All the repeating alarms had been cleared by the phone. Once I re-set them to repeat they work again.
If you are still having problems I suggest:
-set your alarms to repeat or
-set your clock to Jan. 3 (Apple has acknowledged the problem and says it should be resolved on Jan. 3 see:

These are User Forums and Apple won't hear from you if you complain here. Send them your concerns here:

One last thing: DON'T FEED THE TROLLS. All the posters who are riling you up and derailing the discussions just need to be ignored. It doesn't do any good to argue with them- that's what they want.
Happy New Year everyone.
