Wifi connection keeps dropping - Any ideas?

Hello!

We've just bought two last generation iPod Touchs (which we updated with the new iOS 4.2.1), and we can't seem to maintain a stable WiFi connection on either of them - they keep dropping the WiFi connection. Since we are also operating two 3rd generation iPod Touchs (also updated to the last version of the iOS) on the same WiFi network, and neither of these are having that problem, we're leaning towards a problem either with the 4G units themselves (a faulty batch) or a problem with that generation.
Anyone have the same problem? If so, have you found a way around it?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Cheers!

I had the same issue with my iTouch 4G and was loosing wireless every 10 seconds which was just really annoying! After reading this thread I changed my wireless router to use WEP for my G band and instantly stayed connected.

For those of you who feel this is not a router issue you really should make the changes. I too have many devices running on g and n and did not think it was the router since so many devices stayed connected.

It appears that the iTouch 4G has an issue with the G and N signals even though nothing else has connectivity issues the iTouch does....seems as if it cannot auto negotiate the signals.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who posted good solid info.

Also I am using both G and N on my router since I can apply different channels and security...I was lucky to have a good dual band router that allows me to do this and it's a Netgear N600 dual band router model WNDR3400....not too expensive if you want to take advantage of the dual bands and still utilize your N wireless to get the faster speeds.

Has anybody solved this problem successfully yet? I updated to ios 5 today and ever since my internet has been dropping out on the ipad - the PC is connected and working fine through the same router. I've tried to set up a static IPS as someone suggested on another thread, but that just seemed to revert straight back to DHCP whenever I came out of the settings. Any news on whether Apple are taking this issue seriously yet...?

I can confirm that after playing around with all the 802. a/b/g/n connections this did not improve my iPod touch 4G connection. The signal continually dropped out. But, after changing from WPA2 to WPA/WPA2 on my Airport Express this has worked! Hopefully this will help a few other people out too! Thanks for the advice...

Oh yes! I just realized after reading your post that my iPod touch 4th G started dropping wi-fi connection after I left my Bluetooth on for my new Bose Soundlink speaker, it was fine prior to it. In my case the iPod drops wi-fi then within a couple seconds it comes back, does it once Ina while sometimes often. Only happens when the circulating wheel next to the wi-fi symbol is spinning. What am I supposed to do with my router??? Just keep Bluetooth off???
