Netflix not working on Apple TV

Peter, on one of the other threads about Netflix problems they talk about changing the DNS address through the settings menu to 008.008.008.008 I believe it is. That sends you to a Google public server and it seems to have solved the problem of server not found. You might want to check it out. Yes, I think I've read every response to every Netflix problem on these forums and have tried just about all of them. Needless to say, none of them has worked for me or I wouldn't still be here.
Thanks Deborah, but I tried changing the DNS servers. I didn't use the google ones (008) but used the Open DNS server settings but alas. That didn't solve the problem either. HOWEVER, I tried going to the netflix website and changing my password to 12345 as hrspringer suggested and wonders never cease, I was able to make contact with netflix with the apple tv.....I then changed my password back (using the computer) to my original password and to my utter amazement, the apple tv still was able to connect to netflix.
I'm not turning it off and will see where we stand tomorrow but changing the password on the website worked.....for now. I'll post tomorrow if it still is up and running. Then.....I'll try turning off apple tv and see if the fix holds. Thanks everyone. Nice we can support each other.
Hey, this worked for me, too. Finally. To recap once more, I signed onto Netflix on my desktop, changed the pasword to 12345, went into Netflix on the AppleTV and signed in using 12345, got in successfully, then went back on my desktop and changed the password back to what it was.
Thanks, everyone for the help!
Changing my password online to 12345 and then back to my previous password worked for me as well. Hey Apple, your update is messed up. Fix it!
This password manipulation is still working for me, but it doesn't always hold and on a different day, I will have to go back in and do it again,........but it works and that's a wonderful thing.
This 12345 bit has worked for me as well. However, I am not able to revert back to my old password again(only thorough apple TV). I have not tried to change my password entirely to see if that works, but my old one will not login. Is anyone having this proplem? Thanks to everyone for their posts on this matter. Its nice to have it working.
Had same issue where Netflix login did not work on Apple TV, but Netflix login worked on all other devices. Went to Netflix and changed password to 12345 and tried Netflix login on Apple TV and it worked. Tried a few differing combinations of numbers, some worked, some did not. Went back to my original password and it failed to login again. Conclusion is there is some bug in the passwords used and how they translate from Apple TV to Netflix.
12345 just happens to work, 54321 happens to work, etc. but other combinations fail.
Come on guys, you do not need to be a genius to resolve this issue. If you are having this problems, simply go to "General" clic on "Settings". clic on "Reset" clic on "Reset all Settings" are you'll be done in not time.
Enjoy, your Apple TV and Netflix again.
coolvoyager: I just did a General->Settings_>Reset All Settings and that definitely did not work for me.
I still get a 117 error (bad username/password) even though I can log in to both my PC and iPad with that username/password. Have tried over 5 times just to be totally sure I wasn't typing it wrong.
I guess I'll have to try 12345
Candlesan:
I was having the same issues you describe. After restoring, resetting, rebooting, unplugging, etc, etc, etc - I was still getting those Netflix error messages. Even went to the Apple Store to swap out the unit - no help.
But here is what DID help. Going to Settings > Configure WiFi. I selected my network, re-entered network password, and presto - was able to interface with Netflix easily. HOWEVER, it seems that every time I turn my TV off and then come back to use ATV again with Netflix - I have to do the same thing.
So the GOOD news is: it has worked every time I have reconfigured my WiFi
the BAD news is that it's annoying to have to go through those steps every time you want to use Netflix.
C'mon you Apple whiz kids - can't we get that bug fixed???
Guess that's the reason I use TiVo for streaming Netflix and all other app's.
I had problems with Apple TV not loading Netflix, and pausing/buffering. Udgraded to dual band Cisco Linksys E4200 wireless router, and the problems disappeared. I think maybe Apple TV requires a faster doiwnload.
i am also having the buffering/pausing issues when streaming netflixs thru my appletv. it all started after the LAST software updates.
before you ask...i have:
reset my router/firewall, upgraded the firmware and reconfigured my network
reset my appleTV to factory defaults and reconfigured
this is an apple software issue....for sure.
if i stream netflixs thru my Wii, netflix is 100% awesome.
......apple, please fix this...as i'm not the only one.
Similar issue here. First time trying to watch Netflix movie through Apple TV after recently switching from Roku. Constant pauses in Netflix streaming to buffer. Changed to Google DNS to no avail. Software updated to current version. Download speeds 2-3 Mbps. Dissappointed as I read these posts to see that Apple has allowed these problems to persist. These problems occured with Roku but rarely. Happy with every other aspect of Apple TV.
Well I must be the unlucky guy in the bunch, the 12345 fix doesn't work for me. I have tried everything, after spending hours of trying to fix the password problems for both iTunes and Netflix on my AppleTV2.
After initial setup I was able to download one iTunes movie and that was it. The next time I got the wrong password message. Netflix worked fine for the last week, until I did a complete rebbot to fix the iTunes problem, now I get a wrong password message on Netflix as well. Password work fine on ipod Touch and iPhone.
What a complete POS. Will be taking it back.
