Netflix not working on Apple TV

I think it may be a bandwidth or server issue. I watched a Netflix movie yesterday at a less busy hour and had no problems at all. Download speeds were 15+ Mbps vs 2-3 when the Netflix movie I was watching constantly stopped playing to buffer. With 15+ Mbps there was no delay and the film played continuosly. It was perfect. I am leaving the Google public DNS setting for now since I use Open DNS but may switch that back to the default and see if it works okay.
Ulrich:
I was frustrated with this problem for a few months, and finally figured out a way to get ATV to work for me.
I am just talking about Netflix interface here; i don't use iTunes. I kept on getting all those annoying Netflix error messages that prevented me from logging in. What I do now is that every time I want to stream a Netflix movie on my HDTV using Apple TV, I go to Settings > General > Configure WiFi. I enter my WiFi name and password, see that it is "done", go back to main Menu, and then have no problem with Netflix. It's a little annoying, and I hope that some Apple programmers are monitoring this board, and can correct - but it has worked every time. Hope that helps.
I have found that most of the conection problems I have had with ATV are now solved by not letting the device go to sleep. I keep it on 224/7. Should I have to replace the ATV every 6-12 months, the $99 is better than all the BS that you go through to keep it running.
yay i did the trick you guys just taught me about resetting using the arrow down and menu button and it worked after days of no netflix!!! awesome..thanks
Had LOVED Netflix on Apple TV until recently and it had become unwatchable. Tried everything in this forum and many others (restarting everything, unplugging, changing Netflix password, etc etc). Use Airport Express and I reset it to the factory settings and went throught that process. After that, Netflix is working again.
If you have prob lems with Netflix stopping, buffering, stuttering on your AppleTV2 go to network configuration and set the IP address manually to a static address (so you don't have to use DHCP to get the address). I was ready to actually start watching DVR again until I doscovered this solution in another thread. Haven't had the problem since, not once. Just like playiing a DVD...no better, because the DVDs sometimes skip. It's like streaming amovie from your own comouter. Flawless.
Thomas, how does one go about getting a static IP address?
And then setting it on ATV2?
On Apple TV choose Settings > General >Network > ConfigureTCP/IP.
Change the setting from DHCP to Manual and use the same numbers that are already there.
