I have 3 downloading apps that are in the "waiting" mode in my dock. They have not downloaded any data at all - they've been in this state for over two hours now.
I have two other computers on the same network that have downloaded the same apps within seconds.
I've tossed cookies, restarted the app store, restarted the computer….what else can I do? Any app I try to download on this one computer just seem to "wait" forever with no activity.
I agree, it seems likely the problem is with Apple's servers. I've tried the suggestions in this thread and am still stuck with app downloads on 'waiting'.
I'm having this same problem on my Mac pro. However, I've just rebuilt my Macbook and after signing in and then verifying the billing info on there it works fine on the Macbook, but still not on the Mac Pro.
I've tried all the suggestions here and no joy. Is there anyway of removing the App store and starting again?
I was also trying to see if I could reinstall the Mac App Store. I couldn't find any download on Apple's web site so I haven't tried anything yet.
I might just try to redo the 10.6.6 upgrade but I really don't want to. I'm just hoping something will come out about this and someone will find a fix or Apple will do an update. : /
I've just reinstalled the 10.6.6 update and it made no difference. The only option looks like a rebuild from scratch. I have a spare drive, so I might give that a go. Bit extreme I know.
While I agree with braeson that the issue is a 500 Internal Server Error, and that the most probable solution will be a fix from apple, the rest of his statement isn't entirely accurate.
A 500 error just means that the server could not continue it's process and return a result. The cause of that error is unknown. If, for example, the App Store client software is sending faulty/unexpected/missing data to Apple's server, and the server is not properly handling that incorrect data, it can easily result in a 500 error (caused by bad behavior on the client's part). Any number of fixes on the client end could
potentially cause the faulty data issue to be resolved, thus ending the error and allowing downloads. This is illustrated by the fact that many people with multiple Macs are connecting to the same Apple Store server with the same apple id / account and the purchase works fine (indicating a possible client side problem).
Furthermore, many of the suggested fixes have been attempts to update the account data which is stored on Apple's servers.
To say definitively "no matter what you do or don't do, it wont matter" just isn't accurate. Personally, I'm just sick of trying until a definitive fix is known or Apple releases a software update, but for those of you with more patience (and hope) go ahead and have at it. Best of luck to you.
I have to agree with Cliff 100% here. I have three other computers on the same network using the same appleID/pw combination, downloading the same apps and they are all working just fine.
Oddly enough, I didn't have to re-accept the T&C on those three computers that are working. The only machine that I did accept the new T&C is the one where I'm having the problem.
So, I have to agree that there's something squirrelly going on with the data being sent from the client side. I dunno….I'm so over this.
I cannot download anything either in the Swiss App Store.
I keep getting the error that the request could not be finished, there has been an error in the appstore, try again later, (@@errorNum@@)
I have tried all the suggestions in this discussion and others, but still can't get past the "waiting" for purchase download. I have a question. I have older versions of iLife and iWork. Should these be listed in the Purchases or Updates window of the App Store if everything is working? I see nothing in these windows.
