Cannot Sign In to Mac App Store - Tried Every Way Possible & No Progress.

I'm so disappointed that Apple has left so many of us hanging like this. I've submitted several support inquiries online exactly as their site instructed me to & received no response. Not even an automated one!

Here's what I sent to their Support & if any of you can help me out, I'd be forever grateful:
--

I'm a very savvy and technical user who is also on your iOS & Mac Development Program.

Anyways, I downloaded & installed the 10.6.6 Combo Update on my work iMac & had no issues accessing the Mac App Store.

I used the exact same Combo Update on my home iMac & had no errors, however, when I launch the Mac App Store, I can click anything and get a response BESIDES Sign In, Account or BUY NOW.

For whatever reason, my home iMac won't let me log into my Apple ID (please don't ask me to reset my password or something try to reboot; trust me, I wouldn't be writing you if it wasn't serious. I tried everything, including a reinstall of the 10.6.6 update. Nothing changes the fact that it won't give me the sign in dialog where I'd type my Username & Password).

PLEASE HELP - I really want to anxiously start buying some apps & cannot log into this store no matter what I try. I'm convinced it's absolutely a software bug.

Do you perhaps have an INDIVIDUAL INSTALLER of the Mac App Store that I can download? Please don't tell me to redownload the combo update. I did three times already.

Also, both the Mac App Store on my work & home iMacs read Version 1.0 (54) - so why would one work & the other not work???? I'm convinced that there's a small yet critical bug here & that I'm not the only one having this issue. It's really upsetting that Apple released such poortly tested software that apparently has so many people unable to use it.

I hope that you can help & make this work for me ASAP.

Please respond ASAP - I really hope someone actually reads this issue & sends me a useful reply, and not some canned message.

Thank you.

Maybe we have the same third party app installed which is the cause of this misery. Perhaps Bodega? Since the last update (10.6.5 to 10.6.6) my Mac is very very slow. I ran Onyx over and over again without any effect. The spinning beach ball of death is making me crazy. The latest App I installed was Microsoft Office for Mac, maybe a candidate which causes this problem?

Third-party software that alters your system, such as FruitMenu or APE (Application Enhancer), may cause these issues.

Disable or remove the third-party software.

Disabling APE and Fruitmenu fixed the problem for me. Thanks for the assistance!

I have checked & do not have either of these apps. Furthermore, I've Uninstalled any app that isn't on any of my other macs which it worked on & reinstalled 10.6.6.

*Still, NOTHING. The Mac App Store opens, but no matter what I try, I cannot get the Sign In Username & Password window to appear.*

Had quite a hard time to get rid of APE and Fruit Menu, to really uninstall it (used CleanMyMac) but then, after another restart, the sign in worked finally the way it should.
Before, the copy paste option worked "most of the time", I did not find out why it sometimes did, sometimes did not: all very strange...
I also had "MainMenu" installed before and when the mouse pointer came on the icon it changed to the color wheel, so I got rid of that software too - still a pity: must be some bigger changes from 10.6.5 to 10.6.6

Good luck to everyone: I bought iPhoto immediately and I am very happy not to be bound buying the whole iLife pack!

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I am having the same issue and do not have FruitMenu or APE.

GUYS - I got CLOSE last night. I too don't have these ridiculous 3rd party apps that Apple has blamed as their 'official response' to this issue. Like always, this is purely unacceptable on Apple Support's behalf.

Anyways, here's how my night went last night trying to deal with my issues with the Mac App Store:

I booted to a Snow Leopard disc, reinstalled the OS X to 10.6 & of course all of my files & settings remained.

Anyways, I logged in, ran the 10.6.6 update combo installer & rebooted.

And then, . . . a whiff of freedom! The Mac App Store finally allowed me to sign in! I clicked Sign In & the Username & Password fields showed up!!

_ ** BUT **_

I tried syncing my iPhone / iPad & iTunes wouldn't recognize either. It just didn't pick up on either being connected.

I proceeded to try EVERYTHING; including rebooting, reinstalling iTunes, fixing permissions, yada yada. NOTHING AGAIN!!!!

At 4 AM, I gave up & initiated a full system restore from my Time Capsule backup (thank god!).

So naturally, I'm back where I started with hours of wasted time, all thanks to Apple & their endless array of arrogance in not just paying some kid to fix this for all of us, rather, they love watching us in pain like this. So my restore should take around 39 hours & will bring me to the exact system state from January 6. What bothers me is that I know that if I go & install the combo update, it still won't work.

*+SOMEONE - PLEASE HELP US HERE! WE NEED A RELIABLE MANUAL FIX FOR THIS ISSUE OF THE USERNAME & PASSWORD FIELDS NOT SHOWING UP!!+*

If you have FruitMenu installed, here is a workaround: First, put your Apple ID into the clipboard (by typing it into any text field and using the Copy command). Second, in the "Enter password" window, triple-Control-click on the Apple ID field, which should open a menu that allows you to Paste in your Apple ID from the clipboard. Now, put your Password into the clipboard, triple-Control-click on the Password field and Paste your Password into the field. You should then be able to Sign In.
