Cannot Sign In to Mac App Store - Tried Every Way Possible & No Progress.

I'm so disappointed that Apple has left so many of us hanging like this. I've submitted several support inquiries online exactly as their site instructed me to & received no response. Not even an automated one!

Here's what I sent to their Support & if any of you can help me out, I'd be forever grateful:
--

I'm a very savvy and technical user who is also on your iOS & Mac Development Program.

Anyways, I downloaded & installed the 10.6.6 Combo Update on my work iMac & had no issues accessing the Mac App Store.

I used the exact same Combo Update on my home iMac & had no errors, however, when I launch the Mac App Store, I can click anything and get a response BESIDES Sign In, Account or BUY NOW.

For whatever reason, my home iMac won't let me log into my Apple ID (please don't ask me to reset my password or something try to reboot; trust me, I wouldn't be writing you if it wasn't serious. I tried everything, including a reinstall of the 10.6.6 update. Nothing changes the fact that it won't give me the sign in dialog where I'd type my Username & Password).

PLEASE HELP - I really want to anxiously start buying some apps & cannot log into this store no matter what I try. I'm convinced it's absolutely a software bug.

Do you perhaps have an INDIVIDUAL INSTALLER of the Mac App Store that I can download? Please don't tell me to redownload the combo update. I did three times already.

Also, both the Mac App Store on my work & home iMacs read Version 1.0 (54) - so why would one work & the other not work???? I'm convinced that there's a small yet critical bug here & that I'm not the only one having this issue. It's really upsetting that Apple released such poortly tested software that apparently has so many people unable to use it.

I hope that you can help & make this work for me ASAP.

Please respond ASAP - I really hope someone actually reads this issue & sends me a useful reply, and not some canned message.

Thank you.

There is no login windows behind the app store window. I looked several times. I'm sure on that. So now what do we gonna do to solve that misery. I have to be serious, I dont have any clue why this isnt working. I thougth maybe of clean my mac totally up, but this will not help me fixing that. I reinstalled the last combo update several times. That also hasnt brought me fourther. So what now... I'm frustrated...

Anyone...

Obviously I am having the same problem. After reading most of these posts, I decided to try and reinstall the update. I really screwed up though...I moved the App Store into the trash and deleted it all together! Then I tried to uninstall the software (10.6.6). I AM SURE ALL OF YOU ARE LAUGHING AT ME RIGHT NOW...CAUSE NOW...NOT ONLY DO I NOT HAVE THE APP STORE ON THE COMPUTER...BUT I ALSO CANNOT DELETE THE SOFTWARE UPDATE!!! HAHAHAHAHAAH!

Please if there is anyone out there that can walk me through this...it would greatly be appreciated! Just to give some background...I own a business and use AccountEdge as my accounting software. If anyone here is going to tell me to use TIME MACHINE, please keep in mind that I will loose my current information in the accounting software as well (please correct me if I am wrong about this).

I would really like to start using the App Store asap. If I cannot get this resolved by asking all of you...then I will have to make the trip to the Mac Store to meet with my Apple Business Team and have them do it for me ( I just hope I can save myself the embarrassment and hopefully have someone in this forum to help me).

Thank you!

Mike

Hey Mike;

I hate to switch topics (especially in my own thread), but have you considered doing a routine program level Backup of your accounting data, then restoring your Time Machine image to the earlier point in time, then after that, launching your accounting application & restoring the accounting via the backup file you made in step 1?

I also have this problem. I cannot sign in to Mac App Store even although I have a developer account etc.

I ahve re-installed the combo update to 10.6.6 - I have deleted library caches - if I go to the 'purchases page' in the Mac App Store and click the sign in link I get absolutely nothing.

If I try to down load a free app - I get a spinning wheel (not the disc of death) at the to of the app and it never goes away. This really is the worst thing Apple have released that I have not managed to get working.

Disappointed as I also tried to upgrade my apple TV2 to 4.3 and had loads of issues too. Too many spinning plates Apple I think and not enough attention to detail.

Finally got mine to work. Here is what I did to get it working.

- Goto System -> Application Enchancer
- Select the master exclude list
- Add App Store into the exclusion list
- Open App Store
- Goto Store -> Sign In
- Sign In window can be hidding behind the App Store Window
- Type your login & password on Text Edit
- Select your login in the Text Edit
- Drag your login into the login field in the sign up window
- Click on the password field
- Select your password in the Text Edit
- Drag your password into the password field in the sign up window
- Click the Login Button

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Wilson Chicardo

No dice with this solution.

Installed APE just for this, and followed instructions: no sign-in window (not hiding either).

Revised iTunes ID to match App Store ID; tried APE instructions again: no sign-in window (not hiding either).

Uninstalled APE and rebooted.

App Store still has same sign-in issues.

ARRRGH. Getting really frustrated with this!

*Method 1*

There is no individual installer but you can try Pacifist because it allows you to open the .dmg combo updater and extract just the App Store application and install it. (Pacificst worked but the reinstall of just the App Store It didn't work for me.)

*Method 2*

The support document below applied to me because I use APE and FruitMenu but disabling the app didn't work.

*Method 3*

Cut and paste into the fields using right mouse click worked! I didn't use textedit - I just typed text into the google search field in Safari selected, copied and then pasted into App Store.

Success - but of course it's not really fixed, just a work around.
