Cannot Sign In to Mac App Store - Tried Every Way Possible & No Progress.

I'm so disappointed that Apple has left so many of us hanging like this. I've submitted several support inquiries online exactly as their site instructed me to & received no response. Not even an automated one!

Here's what I sent to their Support & if any of you can help me out, I'd be forever grateful:

I'm a very savvy and technical user who is also on your iOS & Mac Development Program.

Anyways, I downloaded & installed the 10.6.6 Combo Update on my work iMac & had no issues accessing the Mac App Store.

I used the exact same Combo Update on my home iMac & had no errors, however, when I launch the Mac App Store, I can click anything and get a response BESIDES Sign In, Account or BUY NOW.

For whatever reason, my home iMac won't let me log into my Apple ID (please don't ask me to reset my password or something try to reboot; trust me, I wouldn't be writing you if it wasn't serious. I tried everything, including a reinstall of the 10.6.6 update. Nothing changes the fact that it won't give me the sign in dialog where I'd type my Username & Password).

PLEASE HELP - I really want to anxiously start buying some apps & cannot log into this store no matter what I try. I'm convinced it's absolutely a software bug.

Do you perhaps have an INDIVIDUAL INSTALLER of the Mac App Store that I can download? Please don't tell me to redownload the combo update. I did three times already.

Also, both the Mac App Store on my work & home iMacs read Version 1.0 (54) - so why would one work & the other not work???? I'm convinced that there's a small yet critical bug here & that I'm not the only one having this issue. It's really upsetting that Apple released such poortly tested software that apparently has so many people unable to use it.

I hope that you can help & make this work for me ASAP.

Please respond ASAP - I really hope someone actually reads this issue & sends me a useful reply, and not some canned message.

I am currently at the Apple Store in my area and had the exact same problem. What I did was log into my Apple Account in iTunes and then I realized I had not ever entered my security number for my credit card. Once I entered that, I could download apps successfully!

Had this problem and what purplesky83 said fixed it. Simply update payment details in itunes, even if itunes purchases work just retype your payment details.

Tried filling the empty "card verification number" plus even changed my password and still can't get in! Reported the problem to Apple. I just bought Xcode 4 and really need to start using it.

Go to Applications folder.....Right click on the App Store App and then click show info.........check the open in 32bit check box....quit app store...re launch app store.....Worked for me....well chuffed!

I don't have FruitMenu or APE installed and none of the other solutions fixed the problem. In the end it turned out to be this:

also just tried the Little Snitch fix, and the app store and storeagent were both allowed, so i removed them and re-added them just for fun and still nothing.

Tried all the fixes.

Then tried the suggestion to down load one of the free apps. Asks for your ID and password.

Says you are in the wrong country mate! Your registered code is in Country A and this store is
in Country B.

Oops, I thought the problem was with the proxy and had left it off. The store and proxy must
obviously correspond. Proxy back on and try again.

Now we have right country and matched proxy. Try to download the free app again, and
bingo, recognised the ID and password and now says that you have not used your account
(created in mobile me or iTunes before) in the Apps store and therefore you have to verify
your credit card details again for security reasons. Enter these and confirm and that is it.

Could not figure why the Apps store was working with one mac computer but not the other.
There was nothing wrong with the programme - it was just refusing me and not saying why!!

So if you are already registered with iTunes or Mobile me, then the Apps Store might object
if it is across a border (some vendors are reluctant for cross border payments).

However trying a free app download gave me a clue as to what the problem was.

Can anyone figure this out?

I don't have FruitMenu or APE or LittleSnitch.

I don't have any plist suggested in the Preferences or a Commercial Framework folder to delete.

I tried the check/uncheck "open in 32 bit" thing.

I tried the Parental control check/uncheck to Disable iTune Store trick.

The country is set correctly.

Still nothing...for some reason - out of the blue - it just stopped working

I cannot sign in to iTunes/App Store.

Any more ideas?

I'm having this problem as well.

My apple ID works in iTunes fine.

I've tried the various suggestions listed above (eg 32 bit trick, terminal code, checking third party apps etc)

Nothing works.

Apple: can you please let us know whether or not you a) recognise there's a problem and b) are working on a fix

Presumably it's a problem for your business if your customers can't spend any money in your store...

Apple didn't leave me in the lurch. I use a firewall, specifically, I choose to use Intego's Firewall. Under privacy settings, I had chosen to DENY any unknown activity, without asking me. Once I added Apple App Store to my safe applications, which I can specifically indicate as a choice, Apple App Store connected beautifully as designed by Apple.

It was my settings, not Apple's.
