4.2.1's lag issue on iPhone 4

Hi there,
I just update to iOS 4.2.1 few days ago, well, the new features were just work fine, but I found a lag problem with my iPhone4, yes, it was LAG!
here are some cases:
1. lag when scrolling(such as in address book or other pages with long contents)
2. lag when opening a folder or closing a folder
3. pressing HOME, the zoom out animation sometimes lag
4. pressing APPs, the zoom in animation maybe lag
5. double pressing HOME, the animation maybe lag,,,,

the issue seems just like a computer in high CPU usage or with low memory, and sometimes it made me a little bit freak out....

after I cleared all the histories and cookies and caches and closed all background APPs, the issue remained,,,

there was no problem when my iPhone 4 was iOS 4.1 and previous versions.
and my iOS 4.2.1 works fine inside the APPs,,,

I wonder if any other users got such lag issue, or it was just something wrong with my iPhone,,,,

please help me, thanks!

Your posts are nonsense and please stop posting here because you aren't helping, really, you are posting here only off-topic and flame. There are 5 topics about this problem, are you sure are only 15 users with this problem? and think how many people are having these problem but don't post here or they doesn't know about Apple forums.

Oh, and please stop deleting my posts with no reason (yea I know you are like a moderator here).

Alright. Lets just stop this argument here. For modular747: Even if there is a very insignificant community who is experiencing this problem, it is still a problem, don't you agree? Yes, I fully understand that the minority of the iPhone users are posting about this issue. However, you should not let it hinder the fact that it is happening. I've tried every means of troubleshooting and it doesn't seem to work! I really think that Apple should respond and address this problem, even if it is only the minority. It is their "responsibility" to do so. For darknwo: Your posts are showing signs of ignorance, just accept the fact and move on... I am also experiencing this as well, coping well with it. Lesson learnt for me. That is all I can say.

Hi Guys,

Good news on this problem. It has been identified, and it '''IS''' an IOS software problem, not a hardware issue (as I'd thought).

Various other discussion groups are redirecting us to the following page:

It appears that one of the IOS updates changed the animations command, presumably to speed up opening new apps; rather than wait for the animations to run fully, & smoothly.

The result is this clever person has saved us a fraction of a second, but also had many of us needlessly exchanging our phones as 'faulty' (& incurring the related costs, which I'm sure has also cost Apple).

The solution quoted, appears to be only for the jailbreak community (and I am not one of those, so my problem remains).

I will wait, and keep my fingers crossed that Apple correct the fault in IOS 5, otherwise I'll have to experiment with jailbreaking.

I'm disgusted with Apple's behaviour on this issue.

I don't believe they've been unaware of it, for many-many months; but they've played the ostrich, as if there was no problem; and (even worse) discussion forums have been maliciously corrupted with un-truths to try & 'kill the story' (just scroll back through this discussion board to see an example. Those of us who have posted genuine comments on the problem have had as many comments deleted by Apple, as have remained on this board).

That's a disgraceful way to treat their (pretty loyal) customers.

Will I trust them with any future investment?... What do YOU think ???
