Many thanks for any help

I have three BT devices (pad, mouse and KB) and they all show 100% until death... Running Lion Server on Mac Mini and don't even get me going about my kernel panics (about every 2 days). They need to clean up their current SW before adding new features.
I noticed this too. Glad others have the same issue. Not a biggie, but hopefully Apple will fix this in the next iteration.
I am running OS X 10.7.3 and still have this problem. The battery levels for both the keyboard and mouse read 100% and I really don't know I need to replace the mouse batteries until it just starts malfunctioning. The battery levels used to go progressively down so you could track battery level.
Been over a year now since this problem has been reported and we need a fix!
Simple experiment:
Magic Trackpad shows 30% battery after a month, Wireless Keyboard shows 100% still. Both have the original alkaline batteries installed on the same day.
Swap the batteries between devices, and all of a sudden I get 89% on the trackpad, and 17% on the keyboard.
Swap back and we're back to 30 and 100%
Makes no sense in terms of one drawing more power than the other: you'd think that if the keyboard needs less power, explaining why it can stay at 100% for so long, it'd report MORE life left in the batteries from the trackpad than the trackpad does, when in fact it reports LESS. Same applies in reverse the other way around.
However it does at least tell me that the keyboard IS capable of recognising depleated batteries, and will warn me in time to replace them.
Come on Apple, surely with your technical abilities you should be able to report battery percentages correctly by now?
Looks like the battery level indicator is working again. It must have been fixed without an update, because I am still running OS X 10.7.3, but now the battery level tracks down the way it used to.
Nice to have it working again. Thanks!
I stumbled across this thread looking for the same info; why my iMac's Apple BT Keyboard reading is 100% even after a couple of weeks of use. (My Magic Trackpad's battery reading is fine however.) I use Sanyo eneloop NiMH rechargeable batteries (which are awesome BTW) to power both my Keyboard and Trackpad.
I found the answer to this issue, at least in my case, (as well as a great little battery widget/monitor) here:
It's not a complete fix (see the last paragraph in the article) but hope this helps anyone that follows!
Same problem with magic mouse on an iMac, running 10.8.4......shows 100% always.
Problem still exists. i updated to maverick a couple of weeks ago and that's when the constant 100% battery life started. It still tells me the life is low and when I disconect the keyboard and reconnect it it tells me the real life but then goes back to 100%. Same with the mouse. Seems like a simple fix for Apple.
As I mentioned in my Sep. 2012 post (above) I was experiencing this battery level issue on the BT Keyboard I was using with my '08 24" iMac (running OS X 10.8 Mt. Lion) . I was using Sanyo eneloop NiMH rechargeable batteries and the link I posted partially explained why the battery level readings could be skewed so I stopped worrying about it. I did get the pop-up notice when the BT keyboard batteries were low however...even though the battery level reading still said 100%.
Since then I purchased a Late 2013 27" iMac - OS X 10.9.1 Mavericks - and I am seeing the same issue with the Energizer Alkaline batteries that came with my new iMac.
As before, the Apple BT Trackpad battery levels on my new iMac show normal readings, however the Apple BT Keyboard always shows 100%.
Since getting my new iMac I've only had to replace the batteries on my Trackpad once but not the BT keyboard. I guess I won't know they need replacing until I get the pop-up notice or it just stops working.
So I agree, it would be nice if this issue was resolved!
**** it! My keyboard is always 0%, mouse - 8%. WHERE IS FIX?!
More than 3 years now and there is no fix. I have the same problem with Magic Mouse battery level always %100.
What I can add to the discussion is that I think an App is causing this. I fresh installed Maveriks about two months ago and after the fresh install the battery level indicator was running without a problem. I re-installed all the apps I use again and go on. Than the batteries died and I replaced them. Now again the same problem...
Sorry to hear that you're still having issues. FWIW my Apple wireless keyboard and trackpad levels do seem to be behaving better (OS X 10.9.2 using eneloop batteries). I can't tell how accurate the levels are though. It shows 100% for a little while then starts dropping. I replaced my keyboard batteries a few weeks ago and it's showing 99% now. Replaced the trackpad batteries January 9th and it currently shows 43%. So I'm not certain it's all that accurate. At least they aren't pegged at 100% until they need replacing now.
This article helps explain why readings might be wonky...
I always have spare sets of batteries charged and ready to go anyway.
Thanks for the update and if you figure out if it is an app, let us know which one.
Cheers!
I'm having an issue with Magic Mouse BT Battery Level indicator as well. This just started happening to me since 10.9.2 update. It has been stuck at 8% for several days now. I put fresh batteries in, rebooted the iMac, opened and closed System Preferences and Mouse Settings and rebooted again, but the warning is still in the menu bar saying 8%. Two steps forward and three steps back.

It is frustrating. As mentioned earlier, all three of our Macs are on 10.9.2 and although it might be improved IMHO, the keyboard and trackpad battery levels seem to be fairly accurate now.
Try doing these two things and see if it doesn't at least correct the stuck level percentage...

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379 (probably not necessary, but worth a try if the SMC reset doesn't do it)
Best of luck and let us know how it goes!
