Hi, Francois.
Hopefully, 6+ years later, you've stumbled across the solution. I'm sure Apple will have redesigned the feature at some point but, currently, you can hide a purchase by right clicking in the area surrounding the open/install button (see image). Fingers crossed this sorts you out!
Cheers,
John.
Every time I delete a text message, calendar event, or picture...I'm changing a historical fact?
I can understand being unable to delete paid-Apps, but not free Apps that turn out to be junk.
text message, calendar event, or picture
Those solely your personal history to change. The Purchase list is a joint history you share with Apple and Apple has chosen not to allow it to be permanently changed.
Wow, you mean Apple is creating all these apps?!?! They are amazing!
No, Apple is the vender of all these apps through Apple's store.
Text messages are free and received via Apple's iOS...and can be deleted.
Pictures are free and can be sent through Apple's email messages...and can be deleted.
Calendar events are free and can be sent through Apple's text messages...and can be deleted.
And yet...
Free apps that are sent through Apple's store....cannot be deleted. Yes, Dah-veed, that's very logical. Apple is genius!
This isn't a discussion of whether it should or shouldn't be removed, this is a discussion of how to do it. The ultimate answer is you can't, they can only be hidden.
The reasoning I can imagine is because purchases are the main piece of the App Store, and apple can't have that just being deleted. That leads to a lawsuit in the future.
I don't like it either, but hey... It's not really a huge issue to me.
It's becoming more and more obvious that you haven't any idea what logic is.
The difference in Apple's iTunes/Mac App Stores and other online stores, is that Apple allows you some access to the purchase history, I'm not aware of any others that do that and I buy almost everything online. I can't delete my purchase history at Target, Overstock.com, Amazon, Ebay, etc.
BTW, you just think all of those things that you mentioned have been deleted. You live in a fantacy world if you believe that they are gone from the master servers of all the companies with which you have service. Your email, text messages and photos if you used any cloud services are still out there. You can't actually delete anything.
HIding does not save storage space.
