acknowledgment of receipt

Hi,

When do we get a acknowledgment of receipt for the standard messenging app ?
Many users wait for it, i think Apple could make it avaible in the 4.3 update, because you still got some time.

Thanks

You keep stating that you paid XXX for the phone and somehow that entitles you to whatever features you want... This is nonsense - no device can (or should try to) be all things to all people. When spending a lot, it's even more your responsibility to research and be sure it does what you want. not ASSUME it should.

Yea I think what posters are getting at is that here in europe we use delivery receipts.

Its similar in the way that Whatsapp shows that the message has been received on the other persons phone and hence you have safe to assume they got the message in case its something important. Rather than the person having to reply to say 'OK'.

There are 2 ways of getting delivery receipts, one is with the 'tip' which someone mentioned (which is carrier specific) of putting some random letters/digits at the beginning of the text. The other is a standard across all networks which is done by requesting a delivery receipt by changing a byte in the data header of the text message.

Every phone apart from iOS phones support this as standard in europe, so don't be so quick to flame us Europeans when you think were talking about something carrier specific, were not. Its the actual ability to change the data header which were after, which is a standard in the short messaging service across all networks.
