I have had to the the home and sleep button restart before and tried it first today when my iPad crashed. When it didn't work I did start to worry but these suggestion did the trick. Thanks! Might keep my daughter off for a bit longer though, lol!
I accidently turned on the voice over option on my ipad air and my screen went blank. I tried holding the power button and the home button like you suggested. The apple logo displayed like it was starting up then it disspeared. What do I do?
I can't lie....I was worried before I came to this thread. The hard reset did nothing, especially since I couldn't see my screen. I did take note of the faulty sensor tip. I turned my iPad iver and tapped on the back corner where the jack was and saw signs of life but still dis colored. Tried the reset with no luck. Finally I turned it over and gave it a few good knocks on the back and booya!!!!.... I'm back in business. We pay too much for these things apple! Tell ya support people to support us and stop trying to consistently charge us for replacements and fixes! 240 for a replacement....Smdh!!

well well well...color me surprised....dropping it screen down from neck level onto a rug actually worked! Ithought ab evil trick was being played! I expected to turn the thing over and find a cracked screen...but instead there was the lovely apple logo! fancy that!
Having this issue and not seeing this post, after several Restores the iPad at least started getting a greenish color to the screen. Read this. Taped iPad 3 times on back. IT GOT WORSE - GOING TO BLACK... So I did the only logical thing. TAPED IT THREE TIMES ON THE FRONT GLASS, OPPOSITE SIDE! Restarted it, and it has worked great for over a month! (Now I'm jinxed!)

Thanks a lot...i had same problem and was very worried my ipad screen was probably spoilt....Thoughts of sending it to the repairer was even a greater source of worry.....After trying earlier suggestions without any success i finally tried yours and lo!....my ipad screen was back in action......Thanx
