Album art all messed up

The album art on my iPod (on iPhone) is all mixed up. On iTunes (on my computer) it's all correct. How do I fix this?

I reckon something has changed in the way artwork is cached on the device and that in some cases the upgrade didn't update the cache properly. Thereafter a simple sync won't repair things. You probably have to remove the media, then add it back again. Alternatively, selectively delete problem items from the device then sync to restore them.

iPhone/iPod touch: In the list type views swipe from right to left over the right hand side of an item (but keep away from the alphabet if it is showing down the edge of the window). A red delete button should appear, tap to remove the track.

iPad: In grid mode holding your finger down on an item for about a second will produce a black & white cross at the top left, touch this to delete.

I noticed most of my album artwork synched with my iPod Classic. However, many albums were missing the artwork although it was all correct in iTunes. I tried resynching, re-entering the artwork and resynching to no avail. Today I went through my iPod and made a note of which albums were missing artwork and noticed a trend - most albums missing artwork were Greatest Hits albums. I went back to iTunes and selected all of the tracks for one of the albums and then went to Get Info and on the Options tab I saw that Part of a Compilation was set at No. I set the option at Yes and resynched. This time the artwork appeared on the iPod.

Out of 76 albums missing artwork, all but two were repaired by checking the Compilation option even if the album was by one artist. It also affected those albums that had songs from different years or genres. I removed the artwork from the two albums that weren't corrected and then put artwork back and after synching the album and artwork were corrected on the iPod.

Hi, I faced the same problem too with my iPhone 5 music player and just today, the iPad mini retina video player.

Both problems occured after I plugged in my devices to the PC and synced them.

For the music player problem, I solved it after unchecking all songs and playlists in the PC's iTunes, then clicked Apply. Waited for it to be done, then checked ALL songs. This solved the artwork problem.

For the video player problem, I attempted the same method as the music player one, which didn't work. I deleted the affected videos from my iPad and then redownloaded them from Purchased in the iPad's iTunes. This solved my problem, hope it solves yours too!

Cheers,

Have tried all of ther above, hard reset, removed all songs (566 albums), setup device up as new device and re-loaded everything. Worked until next sync and the artwork is all mixed up again despite it being correct on iTunes. I have 2 iPod Touch 4's, 64 & 32 and the problem is on both since the last upgrade of iOS. I was holding out upgrading as I always get sync issues after upgrade, but finally allowed the upgrade to go ahead, what a mistake!!!! This problem also happened a couple of upgrades ago, and finally Apple fixed it, so for crying out loud Apple, sort this out or why offer a device that displays artwork at all? Best of luck everyone!
