Problem just happened to my [brand new] iMac/Lion. I'm loath to reboot the iMac w/o a proper shutdown. Does this mean I need to have a wired keyboard in the house for emergencies like this? Neither trackpad, mouse, or keyboard worked. So it must be the bluetooth that is "off" and no way to connect to the iMac.
to humbleTraveler -- I am using the same wired keyboard, trackball and iMac set-up at home and at work. I experience the waking from sleep problems at work only. That computer runs hot, as well. Lately I have begun to suspect it may actually be a problem with power to the USB ports in connection with the sleep/wake process. When the work computer went in to get checked in Feb., the problems experienced were not reproducible.
Anyway, no solution, just an FYI that for me the problems did not involve blue tooth and a wired keyboard makes no difference for me.
My set-up is that I've got wireless on all peripherals. Nothing plugged into the USB connectors at all. A possibility for the cause is that I may not have "slept" the iMac this particular time. We'll see if it ever happens again as this is the 1st for me.
On the other hand, it is true that the weather is warmer. So heat might have had a play on this issue. Will watch that as well. thx!
Both issues are concerns that Apple can investigate!! Thus improvements can be made in the future. So some feedback from Apple is always welcome and good for peace of mind.
