Lost IPHONE

can a lost i phone be tracked ?

If you had mobileme and had find my iphone activated BEFORE it was lost AND
the iphone is on AND
it has not been restored AND
the SIM card is still in it,
then you could track it.

There may be other apps as well, but they would have to be installed and active before the iphone was lost.

What are you talking about? You don't have to "activate the app". You activate the service. Once you turn it on, don't turn it off.

The app is used to locate a different iOS device. Or, you can log into iCloud.com and locate it there... provided the phone is switched on, has not been wiped, and is connected to either the cellular data network or WiFi.
