Same problem. MacBook Air, HD crash, reinstalled OS at Apple, and then "no GUID is available..."
I tried to delete the NetworkInterfaces.plist, but after that it didn't recognize my airport! So, I copied the NetworkInterfaces.plist back, and now my airport works, but App Store does not. Any ideas?
I checked what is inside file (using prefsetter), and there is an entry for ethernet, airport, and firewire. Of course, the MacBook Air does not have firewire, so perhaps that's the problem?
I am having the same issue and when I deleted the preference file, my airport card would not respond. I did remove the firewire preference, with no success. Just wondering if anyone else has any ideas?
It worked, after all! I went to the Genius bar, and had them try out what was in this thread (they hadn't seen the problem before). The only reason I didn't do it myself was that I was worried about the missing airport after deleting the file. But that's not a problem. Just delete all network interfaces in the network preferences, and then manually add an airport.
I'm dealing with this "No GUID is available. Contact Support for assistance" error while trying to download an app from the app store. I went into System Preferences -> Network, deleted everything, hit apply, then put just airport back in there and hit apply. I started up the App Store again but am still getting the error again when I try to download an app
You have to delete the file "Macintosh HD - > Library -> Preferences -> SystemConfiguration -> NetworkInterfaces.plist" then restart the computer. After that you can manually delete/add network interfaces.
Ittttttt's baaaaaaccckk!
I had this problem when I upgraded to 10.6.6, the first version of OS X with the new App Store. Followed these instructions (or some like it somewhere else) and all was well until today.
Upgraded from 10.6.7 to 10.6.8 this evening, getting the error again, attempted this fix but to no avail.
The one thing I noticed is that, after deleting the networkinterfaces.plist and rebooting, when I re-add my network adapter back in, it automatically remembers my preferred wi-fi network and password. For some reason, I'm thinking it did not remember those things when I had to perform this fix the first time many months ago.
By removing the file "NetworkInterfaces.plist", is there anything special that I ought to be extra aware of?
What is "NetworkInterfaces.plist" basic purpose?
The only problem is with AppStore in my case.
Thanks in advance
I am having the same issue after the update yesterday.
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.5 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 6 MB
Memory: 4 GB
System Version: Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K540)
Kernel Version: Darwin 10.8.0
Boot Volume: MAC OS

Maybe I should make myself clear. I had not had any issues with the Mac Apps Store until after the OS update yesterday. I now get the dreaded "No GUID is available. Contact Support for assistance."
