Me too, I’m not even using my Mac any more… I really wanted to upgrade to Lion. It’s just too expensive to fix my LAN port on my Mac! I am really disappointed that they can validate my MAC on my WIFI only.
I broke down and purchased the Apple Ethernet dongle for the MacBook Air because my ethernet port was also broken.... AppStore works like a charm now.

really, so when these amazingly put together hardware machines fail, you have no issues about spending even more money on hardware to fix the problem that should be fixed by Apple?
The only thing that helped me was a fresh install, updating straight from the install to the latest version, then buying the upgrade to Lion.
It did not work for me. I got hold of a Mac USB Ethernet adapter, but can’t get the device to register as en0.
