Wireless Keyboard with Numeric keypad? why doesn't Apple make one?
Why doesn't Apple make a wireless keyboard with a numeric keypad???
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.5), numeric keypad

Sad for all of us, but glad to hear I'm not alone!
All of the pro software from Apple (Final Cut, Logic, etc.), and anybody else for that matter, requires a numeric keypad to fully utilize their products.
Most of use the keyboard shortcuts to speed our workflow.
I don't care how 'magic' your mouse is, pointing & clicking your way through a Pro Tools or Final Cut edit session is a drag (with no drop).
No idea of course why they don't do it, but agree with the posters here that say that they wish they did. I'll no doubt end up buying something third party where I would rather spend the money on a true Apple product and not have to bother with a dongle in my laptop all the time.
There is an alternative from Logitech: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboard/devices/wireless-solar-keyboard -k750-mac
It receives mixed reviews though...
I too am a Final Cut user on a daily basis for my job and cannot live without a numeric
keypad!
Please Apple, make a wireless keyboard with a full keypad just like your old white one!
I am still using my old white one just waiting with baited breath for a new one to come out.
I won't waste my money on a new wired one.
I'll join this chorus. The lack of a number pad is stopping me from buying one of those groovy new Apple keyboards. I'll limp along with my Dell wireless keyboard until such time as Apple decides to be less exclusive of those of us who need once in a while to do some data entry. 😐
The keyboard that came with my iMac has a numeric keyboard.
Specs:
Manufacturer: Broadcom (0x1, 0x7b00)
Vendor ID: 0x5ac
Product ID: 0x208
So there's one out there...
Great! Is it wireless? Would you know where I could get one?
Thanks!
Like I said, it came with my 5 year old 24" iMac. So you'd have to check used mac places. I can't find a part number. That's the best I can do. Sorry.
I purchased an iMAC last year, and I purchased from the Apple store a blue tooth wireless keypad. It was working fine for a while, now I cannot connect it, so I will have to return it to the Apple store. the keypad is an attachment to the wireless keyboard. WHen it works, it works well. Follow the installation instructions to the letter.
Yeah, I bought one too. It would never stay connected and finally wouldn't connect at all. I just threw it in the trash and got involved in this thread. That hasn't led to any solutions though. I really think I'm going to have to buy a third party keyboard just so I can use my dear iMac efficiently. How clunky can you get!? Third party freakin keyboard!
I must say I am very happy with all kinds of keyboards made by apple 🙂
I totally agree that a Apple keybroard with numeric keypad would be wonderful. I use my keypad on a daily bases and would be lost without it. I don't want to have a none Apple keyboard because it would spoil the look of the computer setup. Surely, its not that much of a cost element to make the slightly bigger keyboards after all they are still making the wired ones.
Here's the link:

OR
Got to Apple and click on “store”
Scroll down to “For Mac” and click on “Mice & Keyboards”
It is currently (12/27/12 11:30pm cst) the 18th item and priced at $49
I received a Macally iKey slim keyboard for christmas several years ago and really like it, though it is wired, doesn't have all of the controls and the USB ports are low powered (not sure if the apple keyboard is different there). I don't recommend the mouse, though. The keyboard is available on Amazon for $20 at the link below.
That apple one is wired. Notice the USB ports!
I've been wanting a wireless keyboard with a numeric keypad for as long as I've had my magic mouse. Not too much to ask surely?! Just replace the USB ports with bluetooth functionality.
