Wireless Keyboard with Numeric keypad? why doesn't Apple make one?

Why doe Apple only have 1 Wireless Keyboard without a numeric keypad and not 2 one with a numeric keypad and one without? because i believe they would have a number of costumers willing to buy a wireless Apple keyboard with a numeric keypad on the right like the wired Apple keyboard.

Why doesn't Apple make a wireless keyboard with a numeric keypad???

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.5), numeric keypad

I am in Montreal, and I just picked up a wireless (aluminum) bluetooth keypad at the Apple store. You attach it to the wireless keboard. I used to have one before, which worked great, until it did not. Apple and the manufacturer provided little support. Someone online provided great suggestions on how to get it to work again (thank you!). However, after a while, it stopped working again, and I lost the instructions on how to fix. I just got the new one, and hopefully this one will work for some time. So far so good. If just recently became available in Canada, so I imagine you can now find elsewhere. Good luck!

I bought the Macally keyboard BTKEY today http://www.macally.com/EN/?page_id=2282

Here is a view from the side comparing the two keyboards : http://imgur.com/r1SS4Lq

  • The BTKEY is more slimline than it looks from the top
  • It is noisier than the slimline apple keyboards (ie keystrokes are not mechanically silent)
  • it has dedicated cut and paste buttons
  • it has up to F18 function keys

All in all, I'm happy with it though would definately prefer a wireless version of the apple full keyboard

This has been driving me mad, too. Buying the add-on Bluetooth numeric keypad isn't necessarily the best solution. At work I use a wired extended keyboard and at home I have a short wireless keyboard. There are differences in the layout of the keys – in particular the modifier keys and the arrow keys. When I'm typing at home and need to use the CTRL key, for example, or if I need to CTRL + click, my hand habitually goes to the bottom-left of the keyboard, but that's the FN key on the short keyboard. It might not seem like a big deal, but it slows down the workflow.

Come on Apple – if you make them, people will buy them.

Hi,

OK, lets keep it simple,

Just add three extra rows to the Blue tooth keyboard. Thats it: just 3 rows.

Green highlights are +-*/. and the dot or comma.

Enter is the Enter / Return button- no need for two enters so close together.

A two way Delete should each get its own button (next to the blue highlight).

Blue highlight are numbers lock and a degree key, as this is always used with numbers, it should be with the number pad.

Navigation arrows incorporated with the numpad with num lock- Apple can work this out.

In fact top row of symbols are due for overhaul, (no sense in doubling up with +-*/= if these each have their own button at the bottom). Bring all symbols used with numbers over to right (ie: %# degree). Add currency symbols (Euro, Yen, $ etc) to the centre and !@^& to the left of this bar (along with new http:/ button).

Three new F13,F14 &F15 keys right at top should be dedicated colour buttons (red, blue and yellow being the primary colours) Hold them together and you should get green, or purple or orange (secondary colours)- Awesome innovation.

Then you don't need to leave the keyboard to change font colour, or highlight.- if you really need a whole pallet then use the mouse and programme.

Also F5 and F6 could be bold anditalicshould become part of the keyboard as well -

Little green light tells if they are activated.

Its high time. 😉

If lightning recharge and backlights prove to bump price up too much then scrap that (cant have the one without the other anyway IMO).

Lastley; matt black rubber keys- yeah man

Long story short- three extra rows cannot increase the price for a company like Apple, and it will scratch a lot of blog itches (were not the only ones having this number pad discussion)!!

Apple just needs to release a full size wireless keyboard. I'm kind of dumbfounded that it's 2014 and they haven't done this yet. The small apple wireless keyboard is great for some people. I have one that I carry around with my ipad in my satchel. But at home I have been using the wired apple keyboard with numeric keypad for years. I love the feel of it. Fantastic. But today I literally have given up on Apple ever doing this and bought a Logitech K750 wireless solar keyboard for mac. It's not the same as the apple keyboard although it tries to look like it. It works. But it's not the same.

It's really ashame too since Apple clearly has worked hard to refine their keyboards' touch and feel. A lot of people don't want the wires. Whatever the reasons, it is clearly not technical limitations, just political ones, whateve they are. It's stupid on Apple's part too because people (like myself) will stop using apple keyboards. Think of it as a "branding" thing. When offices stop having the trademark Apple keyboards around, it's almost like the Apple brand can just disappear in a room with my samsung monitor and kensington mouse. Get with it, Apple. It's 2014. Just make it identical to your current keyboard. Wireless please.
