open(Not Responding) in Activity Monitor

When I opened Activity Monitor, I found one line that showed PID 93 was open (Not Responding). The Info showed the Parent Process as launchd (69). Under the open Files and Ports, I got the following message:

/Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-023501.csstore
/usr/lib/dyld
/private/var/db/dyld/dyld shared_cachei386
/dev/null

count=0, state=0x2

I've clicked Quit Process on it, but it quickly comes back.
What does this mean? The fact that it says Not Responding and is in red in my Activity Monitor makes me worry. Could this be slowing my computer down?

you can find these files either:

Library/LaunchAgents

Library/LaunchDaemons

~/Library/LaunchAgents

I (cucocreative) can't remembers where the SyncMate extension was located, but it was in one of these folders. Then I just deleted the SyncMate files.

If you can't see your user Library folder you just need to hold down the alt key when you click the Go menu in Finder.

I would pause here wierts, becuase even though there are componets whose purpose you are unfamiliar with, does not mean you should dispense with them, because they could be perforiming a useful purpose in a background manner that you are unaware of.

Better to take Kappy's earlier query to the OP and apply it also, which asks "What is the name of the process in Activity Monitor that is not responding?

After all is that not precisely your problem?

Chasing various Launch agents could a red herring.

If you click on that process that is not responding and then in the top menubar select Quit Process, does that get rid of it?

Yes as Roam stated, don't delete random files that you do not know their purpose.

I should also say that I kept the offening files until after a restart – just incase that was not the problem. After I restarted the 'open (Not Responding)' process was no longer listed and has never listed since, so I put it down to the SyncMate kernal extension which was still left in the LIbrary after I deleted the app.

Thanks for the advise.

I am aware of the danger of deleting what is not known.

However i am also aware of certain deamons that are running for programs that i have tested and removed.

Since name of the developer is clearly marked in the deamon name i am confidant i can remove this.

As i always say "when in doubt do not overtake" here i will not delete if am not certain what the purpose of the deamon is (or was).

Again thanks for the words of caution and i will take it into account!
