Has anyone tried putting little felt pads on the bottom of the mouse to make it glide better, and how did that work?

Actually about 6 months later I have not had any scraping issues since bending the battery cover slightly upwards into the mouse. In my case the sliders have been in perfect condition and there was no need to replace them.
After some time the sliders on the bottom wear away and become uneven, when this happens, as well as being less responsive, it can be very noisy to use, even on good mouse mtas. I fixed this myself with a simple and inexpensive fix, you need a decent sellotape and a scalpel.
With the sellotape, cut long enough strips and place over the sliders. Using your fingernails push the sellotape into the small crevices around the sliders so it's neatly covering the strips. Using the scalpel, run the knife around the small crevices. Peel off the sellotape on the outside leaving just the sellotape on the sliders. Finally, push and smooth any sellotape which may have dislodged when peeling.
You should hopefully now have a super responsive magic mouse once again. Repeat where necessary in the future.
