Verizon iphone 4.... trying to add custom ringtones to phone...
Just received my New Iphone, yay!! Having some difficulties though adding ringtones and assigning them to my contacts. It will only allow me to add 1 custom ringtone so when I go to contacts it lists that 1 ringtone and the other standard tones.. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help..
go to the ap store from your phone, search ringtones, get free ap called 'ringtone designer' and follow the steps. pretty neet. took me forever as well when I got my Verizon iPhone this past Monday.
Okay ! Thank you cpa4r (added the r for ringtone!). This did it for me. Future thread followers: save your time -- just download the free ringtone app as recommended by cpa4. If needed watch the video linked to the app. It will do the job. Hooray. Are custom ringtones worth it? Worth the fun of solving the puzzle probably.
I created 14 custom ringtones -- they're in my ringtones library and every step was correctly done. They all show up for syncing and are all checked, but no matter how many times I've tried, only four will actually move to my Verizon iPhone.
Ideas??
And I'm also frustrated by not being able to make texting ringtone choices for different people.
If everything was done 100% correct w/o any errors of any kind and only 4 move over, if you remove those 4 will 4 different ones move over. Is the issue that the ringtones are not moving or is it that the phone is accepting the quantity of 4 only.
As for Text Tones, it has been a long request w/o any resolve from Apple, totally unsure why, it seems like a very desired and simple implementation, but yet they don't offer it. Keep requesting it and maybe one day we will get it.

This is from CPR4 in a previous post above. If you get the FREE app and +follow instructions+ (there's a video link too) - it WILL work.
Still didn't work -- the ringtones show up -- that's a cool app, but it didn't fix the problem, which is getting the ringtones from the MacBook Pro iTunes ringtones library to the phone ringtones, even though they all show up in the sync window.
Since some but not all ringtones available under the Ringtones tab have not transferred, try deselecting Sync Ringtones under the Ringtones tab followed by selecting Apply and a sync. Follow this by reselecting Sync Ringtones followed by a sync.
I did it -- picked up four more that way, but I still can't get most of them to move over to the phone. Go figure. I redid all of them through the ringtones app. any other ideas, folks?
I to had the same experience until I read where you convert your mp3 files inside of ITunes to the ACC files then rename to the correct file extension of .m4r, once that is done you should point ITunes to the new files you created ( I placed all the newly created files into a folder named ringtones then added that folder to the library). I have added 22 created ringtones to my IPhone and have assigned them to the intended contact.
ok, I changed the file name to r and its under 40 seconds. I see the file in the Itunes ring tones. It doesn't show up on the verizon iphone 4. It seems to sync but not show up.
