Mail - change subject line of received email

Years ago, in much earlier mail programs, we were able to write-over the subject of a saved incoming email. At some point that function was no longer there. Is it possible to work around this?

What I mean: I receive an email from someone. I want to save it. But first I want to write my own words into the subject line before saving it.

Thanks for you help!

Actually, there is a workaround for this. Drag the email into your Drafts folder, open it and edit the subject line. Save it and drag it back to whatever folder you desire. This works, but the drawback is that the time/date stamp change to be the time and date you edited the subject line. Not pretty, but it does work.

Hello iBlick,

I have just tried that workaround but whereas it changes the subject in the mail itself, the original subject is still showing on my in-box list.

If I click on the original subject I open the mail with the new subject, bur I would really like to see my modified subjects in my in-box too.

We are now 2015 and we are still talking about the same problem; why does Apple make this so difficult?
