Verizon iPhone Bluetooth audio issues (2010 Prius).

My wife upgraded her Verizon Droid Eris to an iPhone 4 yesterday and is very happy with the upgrade, except for one thing. Upon pairing the phone to her 2010 Prius (IV), she cannot seem to get any decent audio in and out of the phone through Bluethooth.

Her voice (speaking out) and anyone talking breaks out for every other word and make it incredibly difficult to have any coherent conversation. And then the BT connection to the car just breaks and doesn't recognize the passcode when we try to reconnect (I have to reset the phone, etc. for it to work again).

As terrible as the Eris was, this was one thing it did well and we had never experienced any BT audio issues.

Any advice? Thank you in advance.

I got my iPhone yesterday and have been having a few bluetooth issues as well. Not exactly the same as what has been described above. I can pair just fine with my car's (Audi A4) factory BT system. However, the inbound audio quality is sporadically choppy. Sometimes it will be fine for the entire duration of a call. Sometimes it will be terrible to the point where i miss 2 or 3 whole sentences that someone says to me. Not sure what the issue is, but I never had any problems with my Blackberry Bold. Any thoughts?

I have had numerous phones paired to my 2010 Prius. A 3G, a 3GS and now my Verizon iPhone4. All worked the same - which is good. I had a DroidX that worked really well too.

Having said that, I see that you have had another phone paired...so do this - first for grins - reboot the phone - hold power and home button for like ever until you see the Apple logo. This will at least force it to disconnect and reconnect to the car. I have had an issue similar to this in my JVC radio in my truck. Actually I found that turning off the BT and then back on accomplished the same thing. However, this won't hurt.

Next you might unregistering your phone and the re-pairing from scratch.

Cross your fingers that one of these may work.

+1 for Bluetooth Problems (actually +2). I have a 2010 Lexus HS250h. Bluetooth pairs fine, for both phone and audio player. I have not noticed any problem so far with the phone portion, but when playing audio from my iPhone over bluetooth, it keeps stopping. If I hit "play" again (on the car) quickly enough, it resumes. If not, the bluetooth connection breaks, and I have to reset either the car or the phone. My wife has a 2007 Lexus RX350, and she reported today that the phone had trouble connecting over bluetooth. We each had an AT&T iPhone 4 until this week, and did not experience any of these problems.

Add me to the list.

I have an '06 Prius, and VZW iPhone4. I can pair it initially, but the next time I return to the car and start it up it will not pair. Turning Bluetooth off and on on the phone fixes it temporarily. I've also had success deleting the Prius and then re-pairing it from scratch.

Needless to say, I would prefer not to do this every time I get in the car.

Once it's paired, I've had no problems with phone operation via Bluetooth.

Having a similar problem with a 2011 jeep grand cherokee UConnect. The Verizon iPhone4 (my wifes) will pair once, but any calls are poor connections or no connection , then once it looses the connection it will not pair again. i have to delete and restart the pairing all over. did it 8 times during 30 minutes of testing. something is clearly wrong with the bluetooth in the Verizon iPhone4.

My iPhone4 (att) works fine and i have not had a problem pairing in the same car.

We just had the car in the shop and they said there were no new software updates. Where is the problem Verizon or Jeep? Either way the VERIZON IPHONE4 DOES NOT WORK WITH MY UCONNECT User uploaded file

I have a similar problem with the new Verizon iPhone 4 and my 2010 Toyota Prius. My wife's AT&T LG phone connects (and my old Verizon LG phone connected) automatically without problems. Sometimes auto-connect works with my iPhone, and at other times, either the iPhone does not discover anything, or it discovers my car hands-free kit but won't connect to it. After fiddling with it for 10 or 15 minutes, I can usually manage to connect by trial and error, but I still haven't been able to figure out what the steps I use to connect actually are. Everything seemed to work fine for the first day or two, but now it's definitely hit-or-miss.

Any suggestions? Please!

You should find it in the setup menu on the Toyota. Make sure you disable any other phone that wants to auto connect (like your wife's...mine would connect in the garage until I got out of range). I think you can have up to six devices connected in the menu....add a phone, put in the passkey when it is discovered....my Toyota is 1212, but who knows....and it will connect. My iphone connected and sounds better than the Droid that it replaces.....
