Changing Apple ID on my iPhone

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out how to change the apple ID associated with my iphone. The phone was initially a gift that my ex registered with her account info. Now, I can't update apps without it asking for that particular password and using her account information. I believe she has an iphone now with the same apple ID, so I don't want to screw around with anything. I tried to associate the iphone with my own information in My Account, by registering the serial number of the iphone, but it does not appear to have switched to my account info. Any insight would be great!

Thanks Lawrence Finch. Somebody was using my Visa to buy itunes and I had to change everything, I couldnt change the apple id from my phone. You are a genious in my book!

Thank You Lawrence! It took a bit of searching and paragraphs of info later I found your elegant, one line fix! Awesome. This IS the definitive fix for anyone trying to change their AppleID on their iPhone.

This was a huge help. can't believe people were saying restore as new! Only slight problem is that my icloud seems to be still on my old ID. Anyone know how to change this??

Thanks so much. I agree with the person who wondered why Apple can't make it this easy! I was in **** for hours trying to figure out how to get rid of an ID that didn't work any longer.
