My Itunes store is blank but my itunes is working

I've only noticed this just this past week. My itunes is working perfectly but whenever I go to the store, it goes blank. Sometimes it will load and you can see the website then when the bar hits the end (finishing loading) it goes blank again.

Can someone help please?

Mine is doing the same exact thing. I closed the program, opened it back up, did a cold boot, etc. with no results. I quite sure it's an iTunes issue.

This really stinks... It seems to me that Apple should properly support THEIR product on the Windows environment. I tried everything I have read over the last few months. It seems the problem has existed for quite some time. I find Apple support to be sorely lacking. I cannot understand how people can say that Apple is so superior in ease of use to Windows. The only reason I deal with iTunes at all is because I was silly enough to purchase an iPod and iPad

Try this....

Close your iTunes,

Go to command Prompt -

(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".

(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt

In the Command Prompt screen, type in

netsh winsock reset

Hit "ENTER" key

Restart your computer.

Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now

I have lost count on how many times I have done the winsock reset... also in answer to Fisk50... I am running AVG as my antivirus application.. I have even tried disabling it to see if it was causing the problem. It seems to me that us WIndows users should not have completely modify our setup in order to get iTunes working. It is an Apple problem in my estimation and it seems it has been around for a while in reading posts in this forum. Fortunately iTunes has not trashed my music librarry "yet". I do have sufficient backup if that happens

Dutch65,

AVG Antivirus is not the problem but one of its component "Family Safety" may be. However, you may like to refer this article TS4123 from Apple.

Follow the step to identify which software in your system is the culprit and uninstall it. Good Luck!

iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store

  • Last Modified: November 28, 2011
  • Article: TS4123

Symptoms

You may notice the following symptoms after installing iTunes 10.5 for Windows:

  • iTunes is slow to respond
  • Windows is slow to respond
  • iTunes stops responding when backing up or syncing with an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  • Some processes installed by iTunes are using up a lot of resources in the Windows Task Manager.
  • iTunes Store looks empty and white as shown below:

iTunes Store, iTunes 10 for Windows

Resolution

Look for modifications to Windows by:

  1. Running MSINFO32 by choosing either Start > Run, or using the search box to search for MSINFO.
  2. Once it is open, expand Components and then expand Network.
  3. Click Protocol. The first value should look like this:
  4. User uploaded file
However, if you find a value that is more like this, it indicates that there's an LSP (Layered Service Provider) monitoring your computer:

User uploaded file

"<LSP Info>" is variable and may specifically mention a software suite, or appear to be a meaningless acronym

  1. Scroll through the list on the right and look for any LSPs that have been installed by third-party software. By default, the Windows OS will have 10 values:
    • MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP]
    • MSAFD Tcpip [UDP/IP]
    • RSVP UDP Service Provider
    • RSVP TCP Service Provider
    • MSAFD NetBIOS [\Device\NetBT_Tcpip...
    • The value above repeated 5 times with additional variables at the end
    • Note: If you want to know more about which values from this key are part of Windows, please review Microsoft article 811259.
  2. Once you've identified the third-party LSPs, determine which software placed them there. Here is a partial list of LSPs you might run into and the software that may have placed it there:
Product or Manufacturer LSP Name
Bigfoot Networks BfLLR over [MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IPv6]]
ByteMobile, Inc. BMI over [MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP]]
Covenant Eyes Covenant Eyes Monitoring over [MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP]]
PC Tools / Spyware Doctor PCTOOLS over [MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP]]
SafeEyes Internet Content Filter over [MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP]]
SpeedBit Video Accelerator SBLSP over [MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP]]
VMWare VMCI sockets DGRAM

Once you've identified the third-party software that installed the LSP, you can remove that software. If the software is your security software, see iTunes: Troubleshooting security software issues for additional information.

  • Note: If unsure on the origin of your LSP, you may try to locate vendor information to determine which software is responsible for the non-default value here.

Reset the WinSock key

If you are unable to identify the software that installed the LSP, you are unable to remove this software because it performs an important function for you, or you've removed this software and the issue persists, you may wish to reset the WinSock key.
  1. To do so, please do the following in an administrator user:
    • Windows Vista and Windows 7: Right click All Programs and choose Accessories > Command Prompt. Choose to open as an administrator.
    • Windows XP: Click Start > Run and type in cmd.
  2. Enter the following command:

    netsh winsock reset

  3. Restart the computer and test the issue.

Note: If the issue returns, third-party software may be reinserting the LSP.

Thanks wiclee..

First protocol entry looks like the snipit below... even though it doesn't look like there was LSP interference I did remove Speedbit Video Accelerator, did the winsock reset and rebooted my machine to see if it was the culprit and I now can get to the store... I am afraid to reinstall the Speedbit App.

I also can get to iTunes Help which previously said I wasn't connected to the Internet even though the iTunes diagnostics said my network connectivity was good.

Thanks again for your help

If you have Windows 7 try running XP mode. If you are like me, I have hardly any programs installed under XP mode. Install itunes within the XP mode and see if you can access the itunes store. If you can then you know you have some program installed on Windows 7 interfering with your itunes store. In my case it was Spyware Doctor version 8. I just uninstalled version 8 and installed version 9, which seemed to allow my itunes store to appear instead of a blank screen. Just disabling Spyware Doctor version 8 or lower is not enough. Version 8 also interfered with Safari and inhibiting it from showing web sites. Hope this helps people!

This is a reply to voyagerfanatic and Zinzendorf.

In my case the culprit was the Speedbit Video Accelerator. I reinstalled it and iTunes stopped working. Uninstalled and did the Winsock reset and viola iTunes worked as expected.

I should add a couple of things...

One... Speedbit advertises a paid for app to accelerate iTunes content and a free version for video sites like Youtube. I was just using the free version. I plan to send a note to Speedbit re: the issues I had with their free app.

The other thing is... even after iTunes Store started working again when I ran the iTunes Network diagnostics it said that it failed to establish a secure connection to the iTunes store.

Thanks,

Dutch65
