SD Card Slot READ ONLY mode.

I have this problem.
My SD Card Slots it's in READ ONLY MODE.
I already use the SD cards in this computer without a problem, they we're always read/write. Not anymore since a month. (I think from the last software update, but I'm not sure of this).

Someday, without notice, all these cards are read only on my macbook pro.

I don't have this problem with my G5. I can read/write on these SD cards. Of course, all of them are unblocked.

I tried in several formats (formatting the cards with my G5). Same results.
My Macbook Pro 13 (last edition so far, I brought it on November 2010).

I read is probably A Snow Leopard 10.6.6 problem.
So I reinstalled the system without updating the computer, but the problem is the same.

ANY SOLUTIONS?

I had this same problem on my Mac Mini 2011. Blowing in the slow and wiggling the SD card slightly made it writeable again.

Looking into the slot I can see that there's a small contact that senses whether the read-only tab on the card has been moved. I think this contact is getting jammed with dust. That's why blowing in the slot helps — it frees the contact. If I'm right then replacing the whole logic board is rather extreme!

Hi there,

I was looking for a quick solve, so I came to look here.

I had the same problem, which I just solved.

If you put one picture on your SD card, with a other computer of course (I used my MBPR)

Then you insert this card in your iMac, and you will see that the card is now read write... (make sure the lock own is in the off position.

It's a late reply on your 2014 question, but there might be others ending up at this link..

Have fun.

I realize this post is old, but I just experienced the same problem with my venerable 2010 15" MBP, and I found the answer via a YouTube post:

youtube.com/watch?v=nehn7mh81vs

The fix is so ridiculously simple it will make your head spin: Move he SD card's lock/unlock slider (left-hand side of the SD card) to the midpoint between locked (bottom) and unlocked (top).

That's it; that's all it took to solve my problem. I hope this helps anyone else who might be having the same issue.
