App Store Not Working

I first selected Face time app and hit download. It asks me to enter my Apple ID and password. I do this and it accepts the details fine. It then asks me to confirm billing information by re-entering my password. I do this and the notice closes.

Nothing happens at all. The app is not downloaded, no windows appear or disappear. No files are added to the "Applications" or "Downloads" folder.

Mac Book Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.6)
