MacBook Pro 2011 17" hard freeze
Just a little disillusioned and concerned, wondering if anyone else there has experienced a hard freeze like this.

Hey grafixjoe, why don't you go play in traffic? You're not having problems? Good for you. We already know that this problem doesn't exist for everyone. Tell us something we don't know.
Hey ricky_tang, what we don't know is why you are such an a-hole. That's your own person problem though and I will leave you to it.
Hey mister potty mouth, does your mom know you use naughty words? I hope your Mac freezes so you know what other people are going through.
Turbo works on a 15" 2011. I've seen single core turbo hit 3.2GHz. If the 15" can do, so can the 17". Otherwise there would be a mass revolt by the 17" owners.
Looks like you have to install one to show the other... i had no EFI update until the 1.4 software was updated. EFI update Popped up after the restart.
Thanks, Simon. I ran the Software Update and there it was. I hope this fixes all the bugs in these 2011 models.

Does the efi update resolve the issue ?
I have the same issue, I just did the update. But was curious about the result..
Marc.
Downloaded the two updates. No change 😟 my Mac still freezes when using Discrete or dynamic switch (works fine with integrated graphic card).
Let us all know what happens! I want to know what they will do for you and if it works. Not many post here, but boy, I bet PLENTY of people read it. 🙂
It seems from other posts that it might be a RAM issue. Did anyone change the ram (total upgrade, not keeping the old chips) and saw any difference?
thanks for the replies so far!
My mac locks up after the EFI update whenever iTunes and the discrete card is running. I'm using gfxcardstatus to keep it locked in integrated to prevent anything from going haywire.
Thank you so much for keeping us informed. I had the 17 inch but returned it because it was just so frustrating but I do need a new computer! Do let us know the outcome.
this is your HDD Sata place, which mine is too
Product: 6 Series Chipset
